Is this Britain’s first white honour killing victim? The happy but headstrong girl, 17, whose love across the racial divide had a tragic end
By Jane Corbin – 16 March 2012
Laura Wilson, 17, had a baby by an Asian man, Ishaq ‘Zac’ Hussein, a 20-year-old
Laura Wilson was just 17 years old — a happy but headstrong girl whose love story across the racial divide would have a tragic ending.
‘She was feisty — if she had anything to say she would speak out,’ her mother Margaret says, as she showed me a picture of a smiling, mischievous teenager.
Laura’s Asian boyfriend, Ashtiaq Ashgar, also 17, was born in Britain but when Laura challenged his family’s traditional cultural values by confronting them with details of their relationship, she had to be silenced.
‘Honour’ violence is acceptable, say one in five young British Asians
By Leon Watson – 19 March 2012
A large number of young British Asians support violence against women who ‘dishonour’ their families, a Panorama investigation will claim today.
The hard-hitting BBC documentary reveals more than two thirds of Asians between the ages of 16 and 34 say communities should live according to ‘honour’ or ‘izzat’.
Research carried out for the show found nearly one in five – 18 per cent – said certain acts thought to shame families were justification for violence.
“The worm inside the doctrine of multiculturalism is the lie that all cultures are worthy of equal respect and equally embracing of individual freedom and democracy.” – Dr. Salim Mansur
by Phyllis Chesler – February 17, 2012
Dr. Salim Mansur’s new book Delectable Lie: A Liberal Repudiation of Multiculturalism has been positively reviewed and endorsed by a handful of mainly conservative reviewers and distinguished intellectuals.
In my opinion, the book has been underestimated. It is a real gem. And, despite a recent spate of other important books on this subject, including Ibn Warraq’s Why the West Is Best, Mansur’s work is unique. Mansur gives us very valuable information about the history of multiculturalism in Canada, which is important because Canada — where Mansur lives, writes, and teaches — may well be the very first Western democracy to have legally enshrined this policy. We learn, up close, what that policy has done.

A Liberal vs. Multiculturalism: An Interview with Salim Mansur
A dissident Muslim confronts the Sharia apologists.
by Phyllis Chesler – March 2, 2012 – 9:40 am
Recently, PJM sat down with professor and author Salim Mansur, whose latest book I reviewed here.
In this interview, Salim describes himself as a “Muslim dissident” and he challenges all those who describe themselves as “moderate” Muslims. Unlike many “moderate” Muslims, Salim is opposed to a shariah-compliant nation and believes that religion and state must be separate in order for modernity, human rights, scientific inquiry, and democracy to flourish. He says so, below, in his own words. He also has strong words to say about immigration and Canada’s multicultural policy. Born in Calcutta, India, Salim arrived in Canada in the spring of 1974.
Obama Administration Bans the Truth About Islam and Jihad
by Robert Spencer on Oct 24th, 2011
It has been a long time coming, but the Obama Administration has now officially banned the truth. Deputy U.S. Attorney General James Cole declared Wednesday at a conference in Washington that he had “recently directed all components of the Department of Justice to re-evaluate their training efforts in a range of areas, from community outreach to national security.” This “reevaluation” will remove all references to Islam in connection with any examination of Islamic jihad terror activity. The Obama Administration has now placed off-limits any investigation of the beliefs, motives and goals of jihad terrorists.
Dwight C. Holton, former U.S. Attorney for the District of Oregon, emphasized that training materials for the FBI would be purged of everything politically incorrect: “I want to be perfectly clear about this: training materials that portray Islam as a religion of violence or with a tendency towards violence are wrong, they are offensive, and they are contrary to everything that this president, this attorney general and Department of Justice stands for. They will not be tolerated.”
Islam or Islamist? That is the question. Is the term “Islamist” a politically incorrect fabrication to dodge the inconvenient truth that Islam itself is inherently and inevitably chauvinistic and totalitarian? Or is it a necessary distinction to draw: denominating supremacist Muslims striving to impose on societies a classical, rigid construction of Islamic law, distinguishing them from authentic Muslim moderates who elevate reason, embrace pluralism, and take sharia as spiritual guidance rather than the mandatory law for civil society?
I think we have to separate Islamists from Islam. My friend Robert Spencer disagrees. As NRO readers may know from my reviews of some of Robert’s books and my frequent references to his invaluable work at Jihad Watch, I hold him in high esteem. On this question, however, he is mistaken. And because how we answer the “Islam or Islamist?” question critically affects how we respond to the profound threat posed by supremacist Muslims, we must answer it correctly.

Forced weddings and ‘honor’ killings aren’t just a developing-world issue. New research shows how it happens in England and the United States.
When Jasvinder Sanghera turned 14, she knew her time had come. As the sixth of seven daughters in a conservative Sikh family, growing up in the English industrial city of Derby, Sanghera had watched her parents pull her older sisters out of school, one by one, and send them to India to marry complete strangers—often men who abused them. The British educational system never questioned the girls’ long absences and ultimate disappearances. Then, one day, when Sanghera came home from school, her mother presented her with a photograph of a man. Sanghera was told that she’d been promised to him when she was just 8 years old. “I was the one who said, ‘No, I want to finish school, Mum. I just want to get an education,’” Sanghera said recently.
David Cameron’s party doesn’t really love its leader. Talk to a cross-section of his MPs and it is clear that many respect him — admiring his considerable self-confidence, his to-the-manor-born command of the House of Commons and composure in the aftermath of crisis such as this summer’s rioting. But for a lot of Tories in parliament and out in the country it appears to go no further than that.
“I feel almost schizophrenic when I see him perform in the House,” says a veteran Tory MP. “In one sense it is captivating. He has a very stylish delivery and sounds as though he means it all, the conservative stuff I mean. And then the other part of me thinks no, it’s just hot air and in the end he’ll never do what needs doing.”

Underrated: Theodore Dalrymple
Jonathan Foreman – September 2011
Regular readers of Theodore Dalrymple will not have been surprised by the looting that spread through London and then to other English cities in early August. Indeed, one of the fascinating and appalling aspects of these disturbances, beyond the gleeful contempt for the law shown by the looters, and the complacency of the police who allowed them to rampage, were the familiar explanations offered by the offenders for their behaviour.
In interviews with reporters they sounded exactly like the amoral underclass interlocutors who have peopled Dalrymple’s writing for two decades. In the aftermath, the media was full of anguished discussion about what had brought Britain to this grim pass. Many of the talking-heads seemed shocked to discover that thousands of young people neither respect nor fear the authorities. It baffled them that, despite the material wealth of our society, a disturbing portion of “our” youth are vicious, selfish, greedy and callous to a degree that would shock the genuinely deprived inhabitants of South Asian slums or Mexican barrios.

How Liberals And Looters Trashed My Town
Peter Whittle – September 2011
In October 1974, McDonald’s opened its first UK branch in Woolwich, south-east London, on the main street, Powis Street, and my sister and I went along. It was quite an event. As local teenagers with recourse only to the Wimpy Bar when we wanted to impress new girl and boyfriends, we were excited by the appearance among us of this thing from another planet — all yellow and red plastic, shiny surfaces, individually-wrapped parcels of food. There was a pretty big crowd of all ages gathered that day, dodging traffic which, before pedestrianisation, still hogged the road, but which also made it feel alive. The strongest memory I have is of our confusion as to how we were meant to eat this stuff; there was no sign of any knives or forks. We looked around anxiously. “Perhaps,” said my sister inncocently, holding up a long, weedy plastic spoon, “we’re meant to use this?”

“Anti-jihadists” carry water for antisemitism in EDL; attack SIOA
There is circulating around the blogosphere an “Open Letter to Pamela Geller,” attacking my SIOA colleague for her concerns about the EDL. Pamela Geller has responded in great detail here, and since I am in full agreement with the statement that precipitated this attack, I feel it incumbent upon me to respond also. In fact, when Pamela first crafted her statement about the EDL, before she published it she asked me what I thought of it, and I suggested that she add a few thoughts — which she did. So the statement as it stands represents as much my sentiments as hers. It was SIOA’s position.
What is unaccountable is that this “Open Letter” was published after the appearance of EDL chief Tommy Robinson’s statement yesterday, which addressed as valid the very concerns Pamela raised — the ones that the “Open Letter” claims are baseless and defamatory.
Images of Mohammed in Islam are more common than fundamentalists claim.
On the northeast corner of Madison Avenue and 25th Street stands the Manhattan Appellate Courthouse, a Corinthian-columned marble palace built in 1900 by architect James Brown Lord. Gracing the roof balustrade are nine statues of historical lawgivers, including Solon, Justinian, Confucius, and Moses. Originally, the design honored ten men, the tenth being Mohammed, in an eight-foot marble statue by Charles Albert Lopez. The New York Times described the statue as “of average height, but broad-shouldered, with thick, powerful hands. Under his turban, his brows are prominent and frowning. A long, heavy beard flows over his robe. In his left hand, he holds a book, symbolizing the new religion he founded”—a blunder by Lopez; no devout Muslim, let alone Mohammed himself, would touch the Koran with a hand reserved for dirty chores—“and in his right, a scimitar, connoting the Moslem conquest.”

Rudyard Kipling, India and Edward Said
by Ibn Warraq (March 2010)
There is a marvellous passage in Kim where Kipling good-humouredly pats himself on the back and is asking for our applause for the way that he has totally immersed himself in India, and has mastered all the nuances of caste, creed and etiquette. Practically every Westerner writing gushingly about India commits unforgiveable solecisms- there are traps for the unwary and untutored. Modern films like the ridiculous “Gandhi’ are the most egregious sinners. Here is the passage from Kim:
Flot, meget seværdig BBC dokumentar fra BBC marts 2008:
Rivers of Blood
Forty years after Enoch Powell’s infamous speech predicting that mass immigration would lead to violence on our streets, filmmaker Denys Blakeway explores the impact of the maverick Conservative MP’s words and legacy.
Powell was a member of Edward Heath’s Shadow Cabinet when he made the Rivers of Blood speech in 1968, so-called because he quoted the Roman poet Virgil’s prophesy: “I see the Tiber foaming with much blood”. He was immediately sacked, but not before sparking furious debate, with his words dividing the nation.
This film examines Powell’s speech in unprecedented detail, discovering how his core argument was ignored in favour of his incendiary language. It questions what led him to speak out in the first place and traces the speech’s effect on immigration policy in Britain.

The alien narrative behind Salmaan Taseer’s murder
Pakistan must root out the teaching of religious hatred to stop a slide towards civil war, says Michael Nazir-Ali
Michael Nazir-Ali – 8 January 2011
The premeditated and brutal murder of Salmaan Taseer, governor of the Punjab, by one of his own bodyguards raises some frightening questions. How, for example, did a soldier with a known affiliation to an ideologically extreme – albeit allegedly non-violent – organisation ever get recruited to an “elite” force that protects prominent politicians? How did he get himself assigned to security duty for one of the country’s most progressive politicians soon after the latter had made a forceful intervention in the case of Asia Bibi, the Christian farm-worker accused of blasphemy against the prophet of Islam?
Even more disturbing is the welcome given to the murder and the self-confessed murderer, not only by the religious parties (sadly, one has come to expect this) but even by groups of professionals such as the lawyers who have offered to defend him free of charge. Also glaringly visible is the government’s failure to act against those clerics who have been offering rewards for the extrajudicial killing of Asia Bibi and the governor himself. Such an inability to act has all the hallmarks of a failing, if not a failed, state.
Opdatering 30. januar 2011.
LONDON: Dr. Michael Nazir-Ali discusses blasphemy law with Pakistani president
By Simon Caldwell – January 27, 2011
An outspoken Anglican bishop has urged the President of Pakistan to prosecute Muslims who try to send innocent Christians to their deaths by falsely accusing them of blasphemy.
Dr Michael Nazir-Ali, the former Bishop of Rochester and the first Asian to be made a bishop in the Church of England, made his demand in a private meeting with President Asif Ali Zardari.
He told the President that he must repeal the blasphemy law that carries the death penalty for insulting Mohammed, the founder of Islam, and life imprisonment for desecrating the Koran, the Islamic sacred book.

The English Defense League: The New Face of Europe?
By A. Millar – September 22, 2010
A group of extremist Islamists attacked the returning soldiers as “butchers of Basra,” “baby killers,” and “terrorists” during a homecoming parade not long ago in the city of Luton. With years of anti-British “political correctness,” and a political class that has failed to tackle Islamism with seriousness, this proved to be too much: the crowd that had turned out to cheer on the soldiers was soon making their disgust known to the Islamists; the two groups had to be held apart by police. Within a few days, a video was floating around the internet, showing the aftermath: calling themselves the “United People of Luton,” thousands of (mostly) young men had taken to the streets in a rowdy, and chaotic show of anger and frustration, chanting “no surrender to the Taliban,” “we are Luton,” and, directed at the Islamists, “scum.”
A short time later, the English Defense League [EDL] emerged from the United People of Luton, and, in a little over the year since its founding, has become the largest street protest movement in Britain.
The EDL has also inspired the recent establishment of independent leagues in the Netherlands, Norway, Germany, and other EU states; the movement is attracting international attention – including from the Israeli-based Haaretz and the US-based Dissent.
If an honor killing is committed by Muslims in North America, chances are you won’t read about it in the mainstream American media, except perhaps locally, and briefly. However, if the honor killing has been perpetrated by Hindus or Sikhs, and in faraway India, the crime merits prominent treatment in The Washington Post, The Los Angeles Times, and of course, in The New York Times.
For example, on Saturday, July 10 the Gray Lady ran a front page article about a caste-related honor killing in Koderma, India.
Æresdrab er især en muslimsk specialitet. I stærkt islamiserede egne ses enkelte tilfælde hos andre grupper. Kønsseparering i svømmehaller, halalmad i institutioner mm.
