Although critics of the Helsinki mega-mosque have warned that the building will be used by the Iranian regime to recruit impressionable youths to Hezbollah, Finnish politicians have embraced the Shia mosque as a symbol of multicultural progress.
A new mega-mosque has been inaugurated in the Finnish capital, Helsinki. Unlike most mosques in Europe, which cater to Sunni Muslims, the mosque in Helsinki ministers to Shia Islam.
The Helsinki mosque has been paid for by the Islamic Republic of Iran; critics say that theocrats in Tehran intend to use the mosque to establish a recruiting center for the militant Shia Muslim group Hezbollah in Europe.

Europe’s Worst Fear: Spain and Greece Spiral Down Together
By Landon Thomas Jr. – May 20, 2012
In a season of nightmare projections for Europe, this one could be the scariest: Greek leaves the euro currency union at the same time Spain’s banking system is collapsing.
In many ways, the market convulsion last week was a test run for those crises, as political deadlock in Greece and mounting fears over the health of Bankia, one of the largest consumer banks in Spain, converged. The credit ratings agency Moody’s Investors Service downgraded the entire Spanish banking sector Thursday.
As investors gird for another challenging week, they will be hoping European leaders in Brussels, if not Frankfurt where the European Central Bank is based, can finally start to map out an action plan. It is not clear that policy makers have many good options.

Spain Facing Creeping Islamization
by Soeren Kern – March 9, 2012
Laaroussi was questioned by police but refused to answer questions because he does not recognize the legitimacy of the Spanish state. According to one estimate, 75% of all babies born in Spain on January 1, 2012, were born to immigrant parents, primarily from Morocco.
A radical Islamic preacher in Spain has been arrested for calling on Muslims to use physical and psychological violence to “discipline” errant wives who refuse to submit to Islamic Sharia law or obey their husbands.
Spanish public prosecutors say Abdeslam Laaroussi, a charismatic imam from Morocco who preaches at a large mosque in Terrassa, an industrial city situated 30 kilometers north of Barcelona, is guilty of “incitement to violence against women” for “providing concrete examples of the manner in which wives should be beaten, how to isolate them inside the family home and how to deny them sexual relations.”

As part of the agreement, however, the ruler of Ras al-Khaimah required Real Madrid to remove the cross from the crown on its logo for all promotional materials. The president of Real Madrid dutifully complied.
The top-ranked football team in Spain, Real Madrid, has removed a Christian cross from its official logo as a way to strengthen its fan base among Muslims in Europe and the Middle East.
According to Spain’s top sports newspaper, Marca, the change was made to “avoid any form of confusion or misinterpretation in a region where the majority of the population is Muslim.”
Real Madrid says its decision to remove the cross from its logo (see image here) is simply a cost of doing business in a globalized world. But critics say the move represents yet another erosion of European culture and tradition in the face of encroaching Islam.
The problem is so grave that the United States has proposed setting up an intelligence hub at the U.S. Consulate in Barcelona to counter the growing threat.
Nine Islamists accused of planning terrorist attacks aimed at “liberating” Spain for Islam are standing trial in Madrid.
Spanish public prosecutors say the men — Salafi-Jihadists who belonged to an Islamist cell known as the “Army of the Messiah” (Ansar al-Mahdi) — sought to “free” the cities of Ceuta and Melilla, two Spanish enclaves in northern Africa, from Spanish rule and thus begin the Islamic re-conquest of Spain.
Salafism is a branch of radical Islam that seeks forcibly to re-establish an Islamic empire (Caliphate) across the Middle East, North Africa and Spain, which Salafists view as a Muslim state that must be reconquered for Islam.
Controversies over Islam dominated the Christmas and New Year holidays in Spain this year.
These conflicts reflect the growing influence of Islam in Spain after mass immigration from Muslim countries. They are a harbinger of things to come, especially as the Muslim population in Spain is predicted to double within the next fifteen years.
Demography, not surprisingly, is a major topic of debate in Spain. Spanish newspapers, for example, reported that the first child born in Spain in 2012 was Fatima, whose parents are Muslim. According to one estimate, a whopping 75% of all the babies born in Spain on January 1, 2012 were born to immigrant parents, primarily from Morocco.

“The levels of anti-Semitism in Spain are among the highest in Europe,” wrote the Spanish daily, El Pais. The organizers of the Madrid conference said they were sad an bewildered that anti-Semitism “is a problem that is often denied in the country.” The Federation of the Jewish Communities in Spain (FCJE) also stated that although surveys indicate that there are high levels of “hostility” towards Jews, “most leaders and media persons believe there is no prejudice whatsoever against Jews.” However, sociologist Alejandro Baer explains that the situation has become unbearable and that it is time to face the problem: “In Spain, insults, writings and slogans against Jews are considered normal.”
Is New Moroccan Government Inciting Muslims in Spain?
by Soeren Kern – December 8, 2011
Some 3,000 Muslim immigrants took to the streets in near Barcelona to protest recent cuts in social welfare benefits.
The protest, which took place on December 5 in the industrial city of Terrassa, about 30 kilometers from Barcelona, was organized and attended by Moroccan immigrants.
The size and spontaneity of the demonstration caught local officials by surprise — they had been expecting no more than 300 demonstrators — and reflects the growing assertiveness of Muslim immigrants in the northeastern region of Catalonia.

Colin Powell on the Bush Administration’s Iraq War Mistakes
May 13, 2012 – Colin Powell
Chaos in Baghdad
On the evening of Aug. 5, 2002, President Bush and I met in his residence at the White House to discuss the pros and cons of the Iraq crisis. Momentum within the administration was building toward military action, and the president was increasingly inclined in that direction.
I had no doubt that our military would easily crush a smaller Iraqi army, much weakened by Desert Storm and the sanctions and other actions that came afterward. But I was concerned about the unpredictable consequences of war. According to plans being confidently put forward, Iraq was expected to somehow transform itself into a stable country with democratic leaders 90 days after we took Baghdad. I believed such hopes were unrealistic. I was sure we would be in for a longer struggle. Colin Powell reflects on lessons from the battlefield to the halls of power—including the mistakes of the Iraq War, his infamous U.N. speech, and the crimes at Abu Ghraib.
Stoned to death for being an emo: NINETY Iraqi students killed for having ‘strange hair and tight clothes’
Number of deaths could be even higher
Cleric calls the stonings ‘an act of terrorism’
Ministry of Interior ‘complicit’ in the killings
10 March 2012
Youngsters in Iraq are being stoned to death for having haircuts and wearing clothes that emulate the ‘emo’ style popular among western teenagers.
At least 14 youths have been killed in the capital Baghdad in the past three weeks in what appears to be a campaign by Shia militants.
Militants in Shia neighbourhoods, where the stonings have taken place, circulated lists yesterday naming more youths targeted to be killed if they do not change the way they dress.
Since the withdrawal of U.S. troops from Iraq, one of the most frequently recurring talking points has been speculation as to whether there will be a sectarian civil war in the country. Throughout this winter, the media at large and numerous analysts have been quick to note incidents of mass casualty attacks, pointing to an upsurge in fatalities, particularly in the month of January.
In addition, there has been a tendency to tie the increase in violence to the U.S. withdrawal and the subsequent political crisis that entailed the issuing of an arrest warrant against Tariq al-Hashimi, the Sunni vice-president of Iraq, on allegations of involvement in terrorism, as well as a boycott of the Iraqi parliament by the main opposition bloc al-Iraqiya, which has now decided to end its boycott.
Bernard Lewis left Princeton University in 1986, forced out at the then-mandatory retirement age of 70. At his farewell party, Charles Issawi, who was also retiring from the department of Near Eastern studies, delivered some remarks. “There are five ages of professors,” he said, “tireless, tiring, tiresome, tired, and retired; but for people like Bernard and me, retirement means a new set of tires and full speed ahead.”
Issawi was right: Lewis isn’t the retiring type. He has spent the years since then producing 16 books and countless articles, carried on his decades-long spat with Edward Said over the direction of scholarship on the Middle East, helped found a learned society to challenge “intellectual conformism” in the Middle East Studies Association, coined the idea of a “clash of civilizations,” became an informal adviser to the George W. Bush administration, and according to some observers, provided the intellectual firepower for the war in Iraq. Oh, and not least: At the age of 80, Lewis fell in love again.

Interview with Bernard Lewis
Winter 2012
In this exclusive interview with TPQ, Bernard Lewis attributes Turkey’s historical progress to the practice of self-critique and to the choice of women’s empowerment. These are also the qualities, if maintained and developed, that will ensure a bright future for Turkey, he states. Indicating that in Turkey “at the moment, the movement seems to be backwards rather than forward,” Lewis points out that Turks currently face a choice. About Turkey’s role in the Middle East, Lewis reflects skepticism but also hope, relaying the message that Turkey can indeed play a leading role in the Middle East but whether this will strengthen Turkey in the global arena or not depends on how Turkey uses this influence, to what end, and in what direction. Decisions made today, in areas such as to enable frank and critical discussion, to innovate, and to provide women with the full range of freedom will determine how the future of Turkey and of the region at large is shaped.

Time to Get Out of Afghanistan
March 19, 2012 – By Robert Spencer
The Afghan mission is imploding, and the Obama administration is covering for Islamic jihadists. Last week, Marine officials revealed that a Marine killed on February 1 in what the Pentagon called “combat operations” at the time was actually murdered by a jihadist in the Afghan army. The cover-up of this latest jihad attack from a supposed ally is emblematic of a failed mission. It is long past time to end the mission in Afghanistan.
Hamid Karzai has said that he wants Afghan forces to take control of the nation’s security in 2013, not 2014 as American officials are planning. Karzai is a scoundrel, but he is right about this, albeit for the wrong reasons. This mission is foredoomed. There is no clearly defined goal, and in any case, any goal worth reaching is impossible to achieve. There is no bringing democracy or humane values to a sharia state, and in any case, we already gave the Karzai regime a sharia constitution, so we aren’t really even trying to do anything effective for women or non-Muslims or the freedom of speech or the freedom of conscience. We’re fighting against an enemy that the vice president of the United States says is not an enemy, and that our client president of Afghanistan threatens to join. How long is this madness going to continue?
Egypt Designates Israel Its Top Enemy — Obama Restores Military Aid
by Robert Spencer on Mar 21st, 2012
Egypt’s parliament, which is dominated by two pro-Sharia Islamic supremacist groups, the Muslim Brotherhood and the Salafists, voted unanimously last Monday to expel Israel’s ambassador to Egypt, and signaled that the Camp David Accords would soon be a thing of the past: Egypt, the parliamentarians declared, would “never” be Israel’s ally. In fact, Israel was Egypt’s “number one enemy.” And how did Barack Obama respond to this egregious trampling upon the agreement that has kept an uneasy peace between Israel and Egypt for thirty years? By announcing a resumption of military aid to Egypt.
From the beginning of the “Arab Spring,” I said repeatedly that it was not a democracy movement, as the Western press was claiming, but an Islamic supremacist takeover that would result in the creation of Sharia states that would be far more hostile to the U.S. and Israel than the Arab nationalist regimes they were supplanting. This assessment was greeted with the usual scorn: the Islamic supremacist media machine charged “Islamophobia,” on Fox Juan Williams said I was “fearmongering,” and the usual suspects made the usual ad hominem attacks. Yet everything that has happened since then has shown that the “Arab Spring” is indeed an Islamic supremacist winter, ushering in repressive Sharia regimes with the enthusiastic blessing of Barack Obama.
They hate us because we’re pigs. No, not the apes and pigs into which Allah transforms the Sabbath-breaking Jews in the Qur’an (2:62-66; 5:59-60; 7:166), but pigs as in…dogs. Wolves. Immoral, lecherous, lustful, fornicating creeps. Western immorality is a frequent feature of the Islamic critique of the contemporary West, as well as a target for the morality police of Sharia states. In the summer of 2009 Iranian authorities even published a list of hairstyles that were acceptably moral and Islamic, as opposed to “decadent” Western imports, among which were the ponytail and the mullet.
That same Western decadence is also a frequent preoccupation of Islamic jihadists. In December 2010, a Muslim named Taimour Abdulwahab al-Abdaly set off explosives on a street in Stockholm that was crowded with Christmas shoppers, killing himself and injuring two others. His wife, who was herself later arrested for helping plan the attack, explained that Abdulwahab “disliked the decadent side of society here.”
Even some non-Muslim writers echo this critique. Dinesh D’Souza argued in his 2007 farrago The Enemy At Home that Islamic jihadists were largely motivated by rage at the West’s “social and moral corruption,” and asserted that “the Muslims who hate us the most are the ones who have encountered Western decadence, either in the West or in their own countries.”
Især om jødernes lidelser gennem historien – fra 24. januar 2012. Blandt spørgerne ser man Nonie Darwish:
Dr. Andrew Bostom – Understanding the Islam in Muslim Jew-Hatred
Mere følgetekst under videoen:
Dr. Andrew G. Bostom, the author of the highly acclaimed The Legacy of Jihad: Islamic Holy War and the Fate of Non-Muslims, demonstrates that Antisemitism in the Muslim world—from the 7th century advent of Islam, through the contemporary era—is rooted in the foundational texts of Islam itself.
Lawrence Wright, in his Pulitzer Prize winning book The Looming Tower, claimed that “Until the end of World War II…Jews lived safely -although submissively-under Muslim rule for 1,200 years, enjoying full religious freedom; but in the 1930s, Nazi propaganda on Arabic-language short-wave radio, coupled with slanders by Christian missionaries in the region, infected the area with this ancient Western prejudice (antisemitism).” Matthias Kuntzel has stated that it was “(d)uring the Thirties and Forties (that) Islamist anti-modernism was poisoned by the Nazi antisemitic mind-set.”
These erroneous if widely prevalent conceptions of Islam’s doctrinal and historical treatment of Jews rest on two false pillars popularized by the poorly researched, if emphatically asserted claims of a major scholar of Islam … (I) “In Islamic society hostility to the Jew is non-theological. It is not related to any specific Islamic doctrine, nor to any specific circumstance in Islamic history. For Muslims it is not part of the birth-pangs of their religion, as it is for Christians.” (II) “…‘dhimmi’-tude subservience and persecution and ill treatment of Jews… is a myth.”) (…) This sham castle of glib affirmations must be swept away if the enduring phenomenon of Islamic Antisemitism is to be properly understood.
Those false conceptions are the heart of the problem. They are usually affirmed without substantive proofs being given. The actual data, provides a negative proof. It reminds me of a scene in Woody Allen’s film Sleeper. Allen portrays Miles Monroe, the owner of a health food store in Greenwich Village who is cryogenically frozen and he wakes up 20 years in the future. In one scene he is confronted by two doctors, one of whom is very authoritative and claims to be possessed “of what we know to be true.” He offers Miles a cigarette saying “Here, smoke this, and be sure you get the smoke deep down into your lungs. Its tobacco, one of the healthiest things for your body.”
There are incontrovertible and overwhelming hard data – pathological and epidemiological – which demonstrate a major causative role for smoking in both the predominant form of lung cancer (i.e., adenocarcinoma), and premature coronary heart disease. Dr. Bostom believes smoking is to these diseases as the Islam in Islamic Antisemitism is to this scourge of Jew-hatred, past and present. It is as destructive to our social and moral health to deny this reality, as it is to human public health disease prevention efforts to deny the causative link between cigarette smoking and adenocarcinoma of the lung, or premature coronary heart disease. That is what Dr. Bostom came to conclude from doing his own research for The Legacy of Islamic Antisemitism.
Andrew G. Bostom, M.D., M.S. (Providence, RI), is the author of the highly acclaimed books The Legacy of Jihad: Islamic Holy War and the Fate of Non-Muslims, and The Legacy of Islamic Antisemitism: From Sacred Texts to Solemn History. He is an Associate Professor of Medicine at Rhode Island Hospital, the major teaching affiliate of Brown University Medical School.
Dr. Bostom has published numerous articles and commentaries on Islam in the The New York Post, The Daily News, Washington Times, National Review Online, Pajamas Media, American Thinker, FrontPage Magazine.com, Big Peace, and other print and online publications. More on Andrew Bostom’s work can be found at andrewbostom.org/blog including a preview of his recent book, The Legacy of Islamic Antisemitism: From Sacred Texts to Solemn History. “I read a withering critique of Dr. El Fadl’s arguments by the indomitable Andrew Bostom, a true scholar and walking encyclopedia on Sharia Islam.”- George Aaron, American Thinker, Jan 7, 2012.
Dr. Bostom speaks on topics related to jihadism, Islam’s treatment of non-Muslim minorities in general, and Islamic Jew-hatred in particular, and the threat Sharia Law encroachment poses to Western societies.

Persian Shiite anti-Semitism is deep-seated and points to genocide.
By Andrew Bostom – February 10, 2012
Reza Khalili (pseudonym), a former CIA operative in Iran’s Revolutionary Guard, has reported the latest restatement of the Iranian Shiite theocracy’s Jew-annihilationist jihadism:
“Calling Israel a danger to Islam, the conservative website Alef, with ties to Iran’s supreme leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, said the opportunity must not be lost to remove “this corrupting material. It is a ‘jurisprudential justification’ to kill all the Jews and annihilate Israel, and in that, the Islamic government of Iran must take the helm.””
An utterly bone chilling example of self-destructive dhimmitude was described in The London Telegraph 2/26/12 by Investigations Editor Jason Lewis. The incident involved David S. Jones a military veteran of the Household Cavalry, who served in Malaya with the armored reconnaissance squadron, retired British fireman, author, and developer of the children’s character Fireman Sam (now an international success as a children’s TV series.). Mr Jones was detained, publicly humiliated and harassed at Gatwick airport by “security” personnel following a mere jocular, passing comment made to a security official noting that a Muslim woman in hijab was simultaneously passing through the security checkpoint without showing her face. Upon placing his belongings, including a scarf, into a tray to pass through the X-ray scanner Jones simply quipped, “If I was wearing this scarf over my face, I wonder what would happen.”

The word ‘Orwellian’ has become over-used to the point of cliche. Yet there is really no other way to describe the deeply sinister, upside-down onslaught upon common sense that has extended even into the school playgrounds of politically correct Britain.
The aim was originally to create a kinder, gentler world — with a commitment to eradicating racial or any other type of prejudice.
Supporters of these beliefs profess to loathe and detest bullying, with teachers instigating school playground patrols and ‘anti-bullying weeks’ to stamp out this hateful practice.

On Monday, I wrote in the Daily Mail about the shocking case of a seven year-old boy who was branded a racist by his primary school after asking a five-year-old boy in the playground whether he was ‘brown because he was from Africa’. As I wrote, this was hardly a one-off incident. Last year, some 34,000 nursery, primary and secondary pupils – including more than 20,000 pupils aged 11 or younger – were effectively classed as bigots on account of so-called ‘hate speech’ laws requiring teachers to record all such incidents.
My column provoked a storm of reaction from members of the public outraged by such state-enforced bullying of children. Among the messages I received were the three I publish below, which give more of the flavour of the thought-control from which British people have been silently suffering for years.

Cameron said that ‘time was running out’ for the two-state solution which was why the ‘settlement issue’, or ‘facts on the ground’, was so important. Clegg went further and condemned ‘continued settlement building in the strongest possible terms’ because
‘Once you’ve placed physical facts on the ground that make it impossible to deliver something that everyone has for years agreed is the ultimate destination [peace via a two-state solution] … it is an act of deliberate vandalism to the basic premise on which negotiations have taken place for years and years and years. The future of Hebron’s Jewish past
By Melanie Phillips, December 1, 2011
Until recently, I had never been to Hebron. In the past three months, however, I have twice boarded an armoured bus to make the journey. The first time was with a private, non-political group to visit Hebron’s Jewish area and the Cave of Machpelah, where Abraham and the patriarchs and matriarchs are said to be buried.
It was a shock. If ever there was a illustration of the attempt by Islam to supersede Judaism, this was surely it. This holy Jewish shrine was to all intents a mosque. Islamic prayer mats were piled high, and there seemed to be not one Jewish artefact in the place. Even the catafalques sporting labels claiming them as the tombs of the founders of Judaism were topped by Islamic crescents.

Why Iran will not ‘come to its senses’
War with Iran is a truly fearsome prospect.
25 January 2012 – by Melanie Phillips
Its likely consequences would include attacks on US air bases from thousands of Iranian missiles, the unleashing of terrorist attacks within the US and Europe, the rocketing of Israeli towns from the tens of thousands of missiles trained on Israel from Lebanon, the closing of the Straits of Hormuz thus paralysing western oil supplies, and doubtless other horrors.
But however fearsome this prospect, that of a nuclear-armed Iran is worse. The consequences are simply insupportable.

So what should be done about foreign terrorist suspects and the European Court of Human Rights?
By Melanie Phillips on 9th February 2012
In the wake of the decision yesterday by Britain’s Special Immigration Appeals Commission to free the Al Qaeda mastermind Abu Qatada on bail (true to indefensible form, the BBC reportedly instructed its journalists not to make a ‘value judgement’ by calling ‘an extremist’ the man described by Home Secretary Theresa May as ‘a serious risk to our national security’ and a dangerous foreign national’), and with the prospect now looming that other notorious terrorist suspects may be similarly freed, virtually everyone from the Home Secretary downwards is outraged and declares that something must be done. But what?
When Germany’s Foreign Minister Guido Westervelle came to London a few days ago to extend an olive branch in the wake of the row between Britain and the EU over proposals to shore up the euro, he took people aback by his display of emotion. As the Guardian reported:
‘Westerwelle told an anecdote about how he went on a camping holiday overseas in the 1970s as a teenager, and was shocked that the appearance of a ”blonde, slim” young German reduced one woman to tears. That, and a trip to Berlin after the Wall went up, made him realise the importance of a united Europe.’
Such emotion is not really surprising. For many Germans, the EU is deemed vital to ensure that their own country never again repeats the horrors of the past. That was presumably what lay behind Chancellor Merkel’s remark, when the euro started to implode, that it was imperative for the EU to be saved because without it there would again be war in Europe

Population decline is the elephant in the world’s living room. As a matter of arithmetic, we know that the social life of most developed countries will break down within two generations. Two out of three Italians and three of four Japanese will be elderly dependents by 2050. [1] If present fertility rates hold, the number of Germans will fall by 98% over the next two centuries. No pension and health care system can support such an inverted population pyramid. Nor is the problem limited to the industrial nations. Fertility is falling at even faster rates – indeed, at rates never before registered anywhere – in the Muslim world. The
world’s population will fall by as much as a fifth between the middle and the end of the 21st century, by far the worst decline in human history.

Corruption and Islamism in Egypt
December 2, 2011 – by David P. Goldman
Egypt under Mubarak was a tightly-controlled kleptocracy, and Egypt since Mubarak has been an uncontrolled kleptocracy, in which public officials steal whatever isn’t tied down. Shiploads of rice, diesel fuel, and other tradables are leaving Egyptian ports for hard-currency markets, while the country–which imports half its caloric consumption–runs out of money. Mubarak’s elite has helicopters revving on their roofs. It’s no surprise Islamists swept this week’s parliamentary elections. Whom do we expect Egyptians to vote for?

Roger Scruton – Forgiveness and Irony: What Makes the West Strong
Roger Scruton, British Author, Philosopher, and Columnist University of Calgary, Alberta, Canada – 10/7/2007
Scruton har en artikel fra 2009 om samme emne i City Journal:
Can you sum up the case for a conservative environmentalism that you make in your new book, Green Philosophy?
I’m trying to plot the structure of our thinking about environmental questions and to distinguish the positive ways of thinking from those that are dead ends. I am hostile to the idea that collective solutions have to be made by committees and then imposed top-down. I very much prefer bottom-up solutions.
You’re not a climate-change sceptic – but is there a reason why those who are sceptical usually place themselves on the right?
I go into this in the book. I think that, on the whole, risk-taking entrepreneurial characters regard nature as a sort of background that we can use for our own advantage. And if things go wrong, you change it. They tend to exaggerate the extent of human capacities and turn a blind eye to fate and to the power of nature.

Persons and their Brains – Roger Scruton
The United Nations, New York – September 11, 2009 Toward a Common Morality
No comedy show, no matter how clever or winning, is going to eradicate the suspicion that many Americans have of Muslims. This is because Americans are concerned about Islam not because of the work of greasy Islamophobes, but because of Naser Abdo, the would-be second Fort Hood jihad mass murderer; and Khalid Aldawsari, the would-be jihad mass murderer in Lubbock, Texas; and Muhammad Hussain, the would-be jihad bomber in Baltimore; and Mohamed Mohamud, the would-be jihad bomber in Portland; and Faisal Shahzad, the would-be Times Square jihad mass-murderer; and Abdulhakim Mujahid Muhammad, the Arkansas military recruiting station jihad murderer; and Naveed Haq, the jihad mass murderer at the Jewish Community Center in Seattle; and Mohammed Reza Taheri-Azar, the would-be jihad mass murderer in Chapel Hill, North Carolina; Ahmed Ferhani and Mohamed Mamdouh, who hatched a jihad plot to blow up a Manhattan synagogue; and Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab, the would-be Christmas airplane jihad bomber; and many others like them who have plotted and/or committed mass murder in the name of Islam and motivated by its texts and teachings — all in the U.S. in the last couple of years.

Jihad plotting persists in mosques
by Robert Spencer - January 3, 2012
It is now official U.S. Government policy that Islam has nothing whatsoever to do with terrorism, and that therefore any examination of the stated motives and goals of Islamic jihad terrorists constitutes “Islamophobia” and must be shunned, as well as punished. But new revelations this week from a confessed jihad plotter indicate that this is exactly the opposite policy of what should have been adopted.
A young Muslim named Abdel Hameed Shehadeh recently tried to join the U.S. Army, not out of patriotism but as part of a plan to surprise American soldiers and murder them in the name of Islam and jihad. But he was caught, and began talking; if even some of the information he has given investigators is accurate, he has exposed a jihad network of impressive proportions that should end politically correct self-deception in law enforcement officials’ approach to the problem of jihad terrorism in the United States.
A bestselling author and expert on terrorism predicts the advances in Islamic supremacy seen in 2011 will continue in 2012.
Two Memphis-area Islamic clerics recently filed suit against Delta Airlines for kicking them off a flight to Charlotte, where they were to attend a conference on so-called “Islamophobia.”
Silenced: How Apostasy and Blasphemy Codes are Choking Freedom Worldwide
The 1989 fatwa against Salman Rushdie awakened many westerners to the danger of being charged with blasphemy in the Muslim world. Charges of “blasphemy,” “apostasy,” and “insulting Islam” are increasingly used by authoritarian governments and extremist forces within key Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) member states to acquire and consolidate power. These codes have proved effective in intimidating not only converts and heterodox groups, but also political and religious reformers.
In their newly released book, Silenced (Oxford University Press, 2011), Paul Marshall and Nina Shea provide the first survey of such accusations in the contemporary Muslim world, in international organizations, and in the West. These charges traditionally carry a punishment of death but are contested within Islam today, as described by the late Indonesian president Abdurrahman Wahid in the foreword to Silenced. Nevertheless, as Marshall and Shea describe, hundreds of victims, including political dissidents, religious reformers, journalists, writers, artists, movie makers, and religious minorities in many countries. They also document the political effects in Muslim societies of blasphemy and apostasy laws, as well as non-governmental fatwas and vigilante violence. And they examine in the West the move toward importing new blasphemy standards through bans on purported hate speech and Islamophobia, aggressively promoted by the OIC, and the increasing threat of violence to stifle commentary on Islam even in the absence of law.
Ned May fra Gates of Vienna kommer ind i udsendelsen efter 15 minutter og fortæller om sagen imod Elisabeth Sabaditsch-Wolff. Fra Secure Freedom Radio den 22. december 2011:
Time To Stand Up For What America Stands For
With Nina Shea, Ned May, Diana West, and Clare Lopez
Are we failing to understand the nature of our enemies and blinding ourselves to the threats that they pose? Today’s guests address this issue beginning with Nina Shea of the Center for Religious Freedom at the Hudson Institute. Nina first explains the situation in Egypt where the Muslim Brotherhood is not being open about its agenda for the new Egyptian government. It is likely though that broad restrictions and punishments for any expression against Islam will continue to be instituted. These will target women, religious minorities, and political reformers, and further hinder the discussion about freedom of speech in Egypt by essentially taking it off the table. This perverse agenda is only being exacerbated here in theUnited Stateswith the recent State Department conference with the Organization for Islamic Cooperation.
Ned May, blogger at the Gates of Vienna and Big Piece contributor, addresses the issue of Sharia law. Court cases inEuropehave proven that Sharia law is being upheld and thus the question is can the imposition of Sharia happen here too? InAustria, an activist by the name of Elisabeth Sabaditsch-Wolff has been found guilty of hate speech. Her case highlights the point that Muslims can defame Christians and Jews without facing prosecution, but under Sharia law all other faiths are prosecuted for exposing Islam. Similarly in theUnited Kingdom, the courts have upheld Sharia law by forcing a Muslim mother to give her child up for adoption in order to prevent the mother’s father from carrying out honor killings. It appears that Sharia law is taking precedent over the common law of European countries.
Next Diana West, columnist at the Washington Examiner and author of The Death of the Grown-Up, examines how the doctrine of Sharia law is being enforced in theUnited States. This submission to Sharia doctrine stems fromUS counterinsurgency doctrine in which our goal over the years has been to convince the Islamic people, inAfghanistan for example, that we are the “good guys”. Unfortunately this concept has led to increased sensitivity to and accommodation for Islamic norms and practices that have saturated our military training. This has also led to directives such as at the International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) that dictate adherence to Islamic law and provide a means for the regulation of American freedoms.
Today’s show concludes with Clare Lopez, Senior Fellow at the Center for Security Policy and former CIA intelligence officer. Clare explains some recent court cases and documents that point to the connection between the Iranian government and Al-Qaeda. First, a judge ruled in favor of several family members of 9-11 victims because of proven evidence thatIranand Hezbollah provided support to Al-Qaeda for the terrorist attacks. Law firms have joined together to assemble evidence that show this connection too. TheU.S.people have a right to know the truth about 9-11 and theU.S.government has the responsibility to hold these members ofIran’s political leadership accountable for their actions.

The Persecution of Elisabeth Sabaditsch-Wolff
by Jamie Glazov on Dec 26th, 2011
Frontpage Interview’s guest today is Elisabeth Sabaditsch-Wolff, a free speech activist who was charged last year in Austria with “denigration of religious beliefs of a legally recognized religion” for asserting that “Mohammed had a thing for little girls.” In February of this year she was convicted, and will have to pay a fine of up to €480. Just recently, on December 20, 2011, her conviction was upheld by the higher court. If she refuses to pay the fine, she may spend a maximum of two months in jail. She grew up and lived in Muslim countries and experienced Islam first-hand.
FP: Ms. Sabaditsch-Wolff, welcome to Frontpage Interview.
I would like to talk to you today about your trial and where it stands now. But let us begin with a bit of background about yourself.
Ah, to be in Vienna at Yuletide. Streets sparkle with the lights of the Christkindlmarkts, the traditional markets that spring up for the season. Skaters circle the rink outside the picturesque Rathaus (City Hall). Merrymakers warm their hands on cups of gluhwein (mulled wine). What could possibly be missing?
Freedom of speech.
Freedom of speech no longer exists in Austria, as definitively proven by the Vienna high court. This week, a judge upheld the conviction against Elisabeth Sabaditsch-Wolff on the following charge: “denigration of religious beliefs of a legally recognized religion.” In simplest terms, this means that Elisabeth Sabaditsch-Wolff speaks the truth about Islam, and in Austria, as in other nations across the Western world currently transitioning to sharia (Islamic law), speaking the truth about Islam is not tolerated, and, more and more, is against the law.

“A Black Day for Austria”
by Soeren Kern – December 26, 2011
An Austrian appellate court has upheld the conviction of Elisabeth Sabaditsch-Wolff, a Viennese housewife and anti-Jihad activist, for “denigrating religious beliefs” after giving a series of seminars about the dangers of radical Islam.
The December 20 ruling shows that while Judaism and Christianity can be disparaged with impunity in postmodern multicultural Austria, speaking the truth about Islam is subject to swift and hefty legal penalties.
Although the case has major implications for freedom of speech in Austria, as well as in Europe as a whole, it has received virtually no press coverage in the American mainstream media.
As we approach the end of the first year of what has been called the “Arab Spring,” it is worth examining the nature of Shi’a (Shiite) -Sunni relations in the Middle East. Indeed, commentators such as Patrick Cockburn have been warning that “since the start of the Arab uprisings this year, Shi’a-Sunni hostility has deepened again wherever the two communities seek to live side by side.”
To discuss this issue, a country-by-country survey is useful wherever there are significant Shi’a-Sunni divides in the population.

Islam, the Religion of Slavery
Daniel Greenfield – November 10, 2011
The slow collapse of Dubai, a desert mirage built on oil money, human misery and the greed of Western businesses, reminds us once again of the fate of all slave economies in the end. But for all the skyscrapers in Dubai, the glittering avenues built by slave labor and the abundance of luxury American and European automobiles—the story of Dubai and Saudi Arabia is very much an old story in a Muslim Middle East, of fat prosperous sheiks clutching their ill gotten gains to themselves and ruling over harems and companies of slaves, until the end comes.
Like Muslim Brotherhood derived terrorists using the latest Web 2.0 social media as part of a quest to drive humanity back into the dark ages, the Gulf States are a very old story with the external gilt and glitz of modernity. While the Muslim world may employ the tools and utilities of the 21st century, even mimic its terminology, it has never left its own dark ages… and its dominant religious and social movements are all geared toward making sure that it never does.

Don’t Underestimate Iran’s Instability
Daniel Greenfield – November 17, 2011
Israeli leaders and generals certainly don’t mind smiling knowingly every time a top Iranian commander meets an untimely accident, which has been happening surprisingly often these past few years, but the explanation is likely to be more complicated than Mossad secrets agents operating behind the scenes. The logistics of infiltrating people on the ground to carry out assassinations isn’t easy, anyone viewing the chronology of the Dubai hit for one man in a hotel room, can only begin to imagine what it would take to pull off more complicated operations in Iran, which sees far less foreign travelers and has much tighter security.
There’s no doubt that Israel has its hand in it, but it’s also unwise to underestimate the meltdown of the Iranian revolution which began with Ahmadinejad’s fraudulent reelection and has turned into a complex power struggle between the Ayatollahs, Ahmadinejad and a populist movement that draws on student protests and brings together reformist Mullahs, Communists and masses of young people who want to live their lives without the religious police looking over their shoulders.

The Dangers of Legitimizing Muslim Grievances
Daniel Greenfield – November 14, 2011
There is no surer path to Muslim violence than through the legitimization of Muslim grievance. And once you accept the legitimacy of the grievance, then you are also bound to accept the legitimacy of the violence that follows.
Violence begins with grievance. Grievance is the pretext for violence and the narrative for the violence. Liberals make a fetish of separating the grievance from the violence, emphasizing constructive means of resolving the grievance. But what do you do when the grievance and the violence are inseparable?
Rebuilding the Library of Alexandria some 1300 hundred years after its final destruction at the hands of its Islamic conquerors in a country where blasphemy against Islam is still a crime was always a fool’s errand. But it was a fool’s errand lavishly embraced by every collection of useful idiots from UNESCO to the National Library of France, which kicked in half a million books.
Most of the money was spent constructing a massive edifice housing only a fraction of the books that could be found in the Harvard University Library, the Library of Congress or the British Library– in a country with a lower literacy rate than much of the African continent. The Library was a Mubarak project and as the wonderful Arab Spring turns into the Islamic Winter, the mobs of Tahrir are coming for the library.
Once upon a time when newspaper and magazine offices were torched for offending a powerful group, the rest of the press would rally behind them. But when Charlie Hedbo, a French satirical magazine decided to put out an issue dedicated to Islam with a cover of Mohammed declaring, “100 lashes if you don’t die laughing,” and received a very special burning “Letter to the Editor” from the country’s “Religion of Peace,” the American press lined up behind the firebombers.
Christopher Dickey, the Paris Bureau editor at Newsweek suggested that the far right was probably behind it because it had the most to gain from the attack. Dickey was unable to accuse Hedbo, a left-wing magazine, of being a member of the far-right, so he did the next best thing by diverting attention from the perpetrators and transforming Muslims into the victims of a far-right conspiracy.

Frontpage Interview’s guest today is David P. Goldman, the author of the new book, How Civilizations Die (and Why Islam is Dying, Too), which Regnery brought out this fall. After 9/11, Goldman began writing weekly essays at Asia Times Online under the byline “Spengler.” At the time he directed a research group at Credit Suisse, and afterward ran fixed income research for Bank of America. After joining the masthead of First Things magazine early in 2009, he revealed his identity and devoted himself to writing, mainly on politics and strategy, but also publishing essays on religion, classical music, literature and mathematics. Europe’s veil of fear
Special: Latest firebombing of French magazine highlights Islamist threat to freedom
Giulio Meotti – November 5, 2011
The office of French satirical magazine Charlie Hebdo was badly damaged by a firebomb on Wednesday, after it published a spoof issue “guest edited” by the Prophet Muhammad to salute the victory of the Islamist party in Tunisia’s elections.
The magazine had announced a special issue for publication, renamed “Charia Hebdo,” a play on the French word for Islamic law. The magazine’s website has also been hacked with a message in English and Turkish. The fatwa said: “You keep abusing Islam’s almighty Prophet with disgusting and disgraceful cartoons using excuses of freedom of speech. Be Allah’s curse upon you!”
The smoke had barely cleared from the firebombed office of Charlie Hebdo magazine – attacked for publishing cartoons of Mohammed – when TIME magazine’s Bruce Crumley chose to criticise the satirists before the terrorist. James Kirchick denounces a too-familiar tendancy
There exists an unspoken rule in the Republic of Letters — that land where novelists, poets, mere ink-stained wretches like myself, think tank scholars who churn out dry policy reports…really anyone who writes for a living, reside: No one should be physically harmed, let alone threatened, for something that they publish. Don’t get me wrong. I love literary feuds, even the bristling, (if well placed and rare), ad hominem attack. But the minute someone raises a fist, he’s lost the argument. Indeed, it’s a sign of a shallow mind and an insecure personality (see Norman Mailer) when a writer, flummoxed by the prowess of his intellectual adversary, resorts to throwing a scotch glass across the room. I hope that if my worst enemy, someone who wrote things that I absolutely despise, were ever confronted with violence by a fanatic of any sort, (even someone ostensibly “on my side”), I would defend him to the hilt.
French firebombing: Attack on magazine is a violent reminder of the satirist’s risk
By Michael Cavna
“Satirist dies in retaliatory religious violence.”
It’s a headline I hope never to see, of course — yet I grow increasingly concerned I might.
Home invasions and murder plots. Grisly photos and online threats. Virtual fatwas and firebombs.
In the past six years, such artists as Lars Vilks and Kurt Westergaard and “South Park” creators Matt Stone and Trey Parker and the illustrator formerly known as Molly Norris — to name just a handful — have had reason to fear for their physical safety after depicting and/or satirizing Muhammad.
No one at France’s national satirical magazine, Charlie Hebdo, was laughing this week after the publication’s Paris offices were destroyed by a firebomb overnight late Tuesday or early Wednesday morning. It is believed Islamists, angry that the editors had named the Prophet Mohammad as guest “editor-in-chief” for this week’s edition, were responsible for the attack. The edition was dedicated to a satire of sharia law, but the firebomb assault took place before it had even hit the newsstands on Wednesday.
“We received threats, but no one had seen this edition,” said Stephane Charbonnier, the magazine’s designer and director. “People reacted violently to the paper yet they were completely ignorant of the edition’s contents; that is the most aberrant and idiotic.”
Islamic supremacists have firebombed and caused extensive damage to the offices of Charlie Hebdo, a satirical magazine in Paris, after it ran an issue featuring Islam’s prophet Muhammad as the guest editor.
Some Muslims didn’t get the joke. Recently the magazine’s website was hacked; the hackers left this message: “You keep abusing Islam’s almighty Prophet with disgusting and disgraceful cartoons using excuses of freedom of speech. Be Allah’s curse upon you!” The firebombing followed shortly thereafter.
The destruction of the Charlie Hebdo offices is the ugly obverse of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation’s ongoing campaign to compel Western states to criminalize criticism of Islam, including discussion of how Islamic jihadists use the texts and teachings of Islam to justify violence and supremacism. The objective of this campaign, of course, is to render Western countries mute and hence defenseless against the advancing jihad.
