Soldaten Eisner siger i følge The Globe and Mail:

“We know the history of these anarchists,” he said. “They came with sticks and broke my hand, but no one will tell or film that.”

Den israelske soldat har masser af opbakning. Fra Sky News:

More than 80 Israeli soldiers and reservists have signed a petition of support for a military commander who was filmed assaulting a Danish pro-Palestinian activist.

Den anti-isralske anarkist benægter, at den to timer lange konfrontation var voldelig, skriver The Jerualem Post. Netanyahu, Peres og andre har fordømt soldaten og episoden efterforskes af IDF. Coren støtter heller ikke danskeren:

Michael Coren on terrorism supporter Andreas Ias

Sympathy for the Leftist Devil

April 18, 2012 – by David P. Goldman

Israel’s minor annoyance over an influx of pro-Palestinian activists in the so-called flotilla rates a great deal more attention than it deserves from the liberal media, for example, this tongue-clicking, finger-wagging item from the New York Times’ “The Lede” blog. It used to be that the body of a dead Palestinian kid (almost certain shot by Palestinians in crossfire) was the poster for Palestinian activism. All the flotilla folks have is a video of an Israeli officer bonking a blond boy in the face with his rifle; the boy falls, gets up, and walks away with a hurt look. “Israeli soldiers brutally attack Palestinian activists,” reads the super-imposed title on the video.

It can’t be good to be a pro-Palestinian activist these days. No one has time to worry about the Palestinians. Bashar al-Assad continues to slaughter his own people — nearly 10,000 over the past year — and the Muslim Brotherhood leaders of the Syrian opposition undoubtedly would slaughter Assad’s Alawite coreligionists were they to take power. There are at least 2,000 dead and 22,000 injured in little Yemen during the past two years. All of this pales next to what is likely to come in Egypt, as the military and the Islamists fight for power.

Yes, Cameron got it right: Most voters agree with PM vetoing treaty changes – and half think we should now quit the EU

  • Decisive action boosts Coalition support, wipes out Labour’s lead
  • Two thirds want a referendum on Britain’s membership
  • Concern grows over dominance of Germany in the new-look EU

By Simon Walters on 11th December 2011

David Cameron has received overwhelming support from British voters over his historic decision to veto changes to the EU Treaty.

The first poll conducted since the acrimonious Brussels summit shows that a total of  62 per cent of people agreed with the Prime Minister’s defiant stance, with just 19 per cent against.

Furthermore, most people believe the euro is doomed to fail and almost half think the EU will break up. They also fear the summit has given too much power to Germany.

Yet again, he’s proved a lucky general. But the battle that will make or break Cameron has only just begun

By Melanie Phillips on 12th December 2011

History does not yet record whether the Prime Minister is given to philosophical reflections about fate and destiny. Nevertheless, it is striking how David Cameron’s career is associated with random pieces of luck or unforeseen events which have the effect of transforming his fortunes overnight, both for better and worse.

Nigel Farage: Cameron’s veto will incur the wrath of Sarkozy. Financial services will suffer.

11 December 2011 | By Nigel Farage

And only more pain awaits if we stay in the EU, the leader of UKIP writes

For some years I have felt like the most unpopular Englishman inside the EU institutions. Now I have competition. David Cameron cut a very lonely figure in the grim Justus Sipsius building in Brussels. He vetoed a new EU Treaty that was designed to save the Euro and will try to present himself as a strong leader in the UK.

His objection to the Treaty had nothing to do with the Eurozone itself or the new, proposed draconian measures on failing member states. This is a pity as he could have used the opportunity to explain that democracy, both in the UK and in Europe, was something that we passionately care about.

In a memorable speech last year at the European Parliament, UKIP’s Nigel Farage lambasted newly appointed (not elected of course) European Council President Herman Van Rompuy saying he had “the charisma of a damp rag and the appearance of a low grade bank clerk.”

There can be little dispute about it. But a few moments later Farage went on to talk about Van Rompuy’s intention to become “the quiet assassin of European democracy.” On that one, he couldn’t have been more wrong. The man’s shouting it from the roof tops.

David Cameron’S European troubles deepened today as Nigel Farage, leader of the United Kingdom Independence Party, claimed Tory MPs may defect after Monday’s revolt over an EU referendum.

In an exclusive interview with the Evening Standard, Nigel Farage said Conservative MPs, MEPs and peers had told him privately of their dissatisfaction with Mr Cameron’s stance.

“I’m not going to tell you they are on the verge of coming across,” he said. “All I can tell you is that it’s being discussed. I do know people in the Conservative Party – and I’ve spoken to some this morning – who are deeply depressed at the moment. Some of them have got to be asking themselves, ‘What if a whole group of us went to Ukip?’”

“A ‘United States of Europe’ will mean the end of democracy in Europe” – Nigel Farage

J. Luis Martin – October 6, 2011

A self-described Libertarian, Nigel Farage is a founder member of the UK Independence Party, which was established in September 1993. He is the Member of the European Parliament for the South East region and is the leader of the parliamentary party in the EU parliament. The following is Truman Factor’s exclusive interview with the most visible Eurosceptic voice in the European Union’s political establishment.

Over the past decade, you have evolved from being the UK’s foremost eurosceptic voice in Europe to becoming the continent’s most visible anti-EU integration watchdog. What has led you to expand your political mission? Do you feel that your group’s vision is finally gaining political momentum?

I must admit, as what the UK establishment likes to call a “small” party in the UK, we certainly didn’t set out with the intention to lead a coalition of nations or be a figure-head for millions of under represented Europeans across the continent. Although, probably I am over-stating our position, our mission was to extract the UK from the corrupt and undemocratic European Union as fast as possible. Of course, that remains our goal today – but we have seen a large base of support begin to grow from across the world to our cause. We have friends and members in Canada, Australia, the USA and all over Europe. It has not been by clever design on our part, but a natural evolution of using our position in the EU “parliament” effectively and speaking what we believe to be the truth with passion and conviction.

Mark Steyn argued that the United States is destined for financial collapse and a decline in its role as a world leader if current political and cultural norms continue. Europe’s New Road to Serfdom

By Michael Hudson

Soon after the Socialist Party won Greece’s national elections in autumn 2009, it became apparent that the government’s finances were in a shambles. In May 2010, French President Nicolas Sarkozy took the lead in rounding up €120bn ($180 billion) from European governments to subsidize Greece’s unprogressive tax system that had led its government into debt – which Wall Street banks had helped conceal with Enron-style accounting.

Logo CounterPunch

The tax system operated as a siphon collecting revenue to pay the German and French banks that were buying government bonds (at rising interest-risk premiums). The bankers are now moving to make this role formal, an official condition for rolling over Greek bonds as they come due, and extend maturities on the short-term financial string that Greece is now operating under. Existing bondholders are to reap a windfall if this plan succeeds. Moody’s lowered Greece’s credit rating to junk status on June 1 (to Caa1, down from B1, which was already pretty low), estimating a 50/50 likelihood of default. The downgrade serves to tighten the screws yet further on the Greek government. Regardless of what European officials do, Moody’s noted, “The increased likelihood that Greece’s supporters (the IMF, ECB and the EU Commission, together known as the “Troika”) will, at some point in the future, require the participation of private creditors in a debt restructuring as a precondition for funding support.”

A Ladder for the PA, Please?

by Khaled Abu Toameh – June 10, 2011

The Palestinian Authority is searching for a ladder to climb down the high tree it climbed up regarding its intention to ask the UN in September to recognize a Palestinian state along the pre-1967 lines.

The Palestinian leaders may have finally realized that their decision to go to the UN would have serious repercussions for the Palestinians.

Reclaiming a historical truth

The deliberate depopulation of Arab villages was a hallmark of the Arab campaign. In December 1947, villagers in the Tul Karm sub-district were ordered out by local leaders.

By Efraim Karsh – June 6, 2011

I agree with Shlomo Avineri, in his op-ed “Zionism needs no propaganda” (Haaretz English Edition, May 23 ), that the tragedy befalling the Palestinian Arabs in 1948 was exclusively of their own making, and that there is therefore “a grave moral defect in the Nakba discourse.”

I am surprised, however, by his assertion that “despite decades of research, to this day no document or broadcast has been found confirming … [any order] by the Arab leadership for the population to leave.” This claim couldn’t be further from the truth. While most Palestinian Arabs needed little encouragement to take to the road, large numbers of them were driven from their homes by their own leaders and/or the “Arab Liberation Army” that had entered Palestine prior to the end of the Mandate, whether out of military considerations or in order to prevent them from becoming citizens of the prospective Jewish state. Of this there is an overwhelming and incontrovertible body of contemporary evidence – intelligence briefs, captured Arab documents, press reports, personal testimonies and memoirs, and so on and so forth.
