Although critics of the Helsinki mega-mosque have warned that the building will be used by the Iranian regime to recruit impressionable youths to Hezbollah, Finnish politicians have embraced the Shia mosque as a symbol of multicultural progress.
A new mega-mosque has been inaugurated in the Finnish capital, Helsinki. Unlike most mosques in Europe, which cater to Sunni Muslims, the mosque in Helsinki ministers to Shia Islam.
The Helsinki mosque has been paid for by the Islamic Republic of Iran; critics say that theocrats in Tehran intend to use the mosque to establish a recruiting center for the militant Shia Muslim group Hezbollah in Europe.
The spread of Islamic Sharia law in Germany is far more advanced than previously thought, and German authorities are “powerless” to do anything about it, according to a new book about the Muslim shadow justice system in Germany.
The 236-page book titled “Judges Without Law: Islamic Parallel Justice Endangers Our Constitutional State ,” which was authored by Joachim Wagner, a German legal expert and former investigative journalist for ARD German public television, says Islamic Sharia courts are now operating in all of Germany’s big cities.
This “parallel justice system” is undermining the rule of law in Germany, Wagner says, because Muslim arbiters-cum-imams are settling criminal cases out of court without the involvement of German prosecutors or lawyers before law enforcement can bring the cases to a German court.

German law expert and former public TV investigative journalist Joachim Wagner presented a new book on Monday in which he speaks of a parallel justice system among the Muslim minority that undermines the rule of law in Germany.
The 236-page book, titled “Judges Without Law: Islamic Parallel Justice Endangers Our Rule of Law,” looks into the problems the German judiciary faces when investigating crimes committed within Muslim communities or clans in Germany.

Michael Nazir-Ali – the 106th Bishop of Rochester – has been an active critic of extremist Islam in Britain and an advocate on behalf of converts from Islam to Christianity. In many parts of the world, those accused of blasphemy or apostasy by Islamist radicals find their lives at risk. He discussed the attempts to enforce Islamic blasphemy and apostasy rules and other aspects of the growing trend of imposing Sharia in the West and elsewhere.
Bishop Nazir-Ali was born in Pakistan and educated at the Universities of Karachi, Cambridge, and Oxford. He was consecrated the first Bishop of Raiwind in Pakistan and in 1986 joined the staff of the Archbishop of Canterbury in Britain. He was General Secretary of the Church Mission Society and in 1994, he was appointed Bishop of Rochester, serving as the first non-white diocesan bishop in the Church of England. Since 1999 he has been a member of the House of Lords.
Noted for his theological acumen, Bishop Nazir-Ali has also earned a reputation for being “the most courageous man in Britain” due to his analysis of the threat of extremist Islam in Britain, especially the growth of extreme forms of Sharia law. There have been many threats on his life, especially over the last year after he warned that Islamic extremists had created “no-go areas” across Britain where non-Muslims faced intimidation. On September 1, he resigned from his Bishopric to devote himself full-time to defending endangered and beleaguered Christian minorities.

The Dutch government says it will abandon the long-standing model of multiculturalism that has encouraged Muslim immigrants to create a parallel society within the Netherlands.
A new integration bill (covering letter and 15-page action plan), which Dutch Interior Minister Piet Hein Donner presented to parliament on June 16, reads: “The government shares the social dissatisfaction over the multicultural society model and plans to shift priority to the values of the Dutch people. In the new integration system, the values of the Dutch society play a central role. With this change, the government steps away from the model of a multicultural society.”
The letter continues: “A more obligatory integration is justified because the government also demands that from its own citizens. It is necessary because otherwise the society gradually grows apart and eventually no one feels at home anymore in the Netherlands. The integration will not be tailored to different groups.”

In both Britain and the US, there are now attempts to push back against the steady encroachment of sharia law. In Britain, a Private Members’ Bill has been introduced in the House of Lords by the cross-bench peer Baroness Cox to curb the increasing use of sharia courts to dispense family law and settle disputes in Muslim communities. This bill, which is being supported by secular groups and an Iranian and Kurdish women’s rights group, will require government support if it is to become law.
In the US, legislators in some 20 states are currently considering more than 40 bills that would ban or restrict the use of sharia law in their courts. Among many Jews, such moves are likely to engender an ambivalent or even hostile reaction. Such a response would be misguided and regrettable. For it arises from dangerously muddled attitudes in the Jewish community towards Muslims, sharia law and the proper place of Islam in British society.

For all the problems we think we have with immigration, Europe’s problems far exceed ours. The U.S. has always had a history of panic about new and alien groups pouring into our country (Irish, Italians, Jews, Chinese, Japanese, Vietnamese, and now Hispanics). But all of these groups came here to become American; they integrated and contributed. By and large, the same is true of Muslim immigrants to the U.S. today-particularly Iranians and Afghans. In Europe, however, many in the flood of Muslim immigrants are not integrating well-partly out of today’s spate of Islamism but partly because ordinary Europeans find these immigrants adhere to an alien culture.
Europeans, after the horrors and genocides of World War II, made a commitment to open their doors to needy immigrants. England is awash with Pakistanis; France with North Africans; Germany with Turks from religious villages; and the Scandinavian countries have been the most generous of all, taking in Somalis, Iraqis, Moroccans, and others. All are creating trouble on two fronts: social integration and horrific welfare costs. The educated elites, who run Europe, have ideological notions that do not jibe with the realities faced by ordinary working Europeans who have not found these immigrants a benefit to their lives.

A very long time ago — back in the last century, when I worked for men like Alexander Haig and Ronald Reagan — the United States government knew of at least three terrorist sleeper cells on our soil. The most famous of these was in St. Louis, Missouri, where Zeit Isa, a member of the Abu Nidal organization — one of the most lethal of that time — was quietly running a convenience store. He was a Palestinian who had gone to Puerto Rico and married a local woman (even though he already had a wife in the old country). They produced two girls, and one night the older one came home late and her father stabbed her to death as her mother held her down. The FBI got the whole thing on audio tape.
This led to the trial of 4 members of the group in the mid-nineties, which exposed the Abu Nidal sleeper network to public view. Many of the network, realizing that it had been penetrated by the FBI, left the United States, but Isa and his wife spent the rest of their lives in a federal prison.

Radical Islam threatens American democracy. It is slowly subverting America from within and without. If it is not stopped, U.S. civilization is doomed.
For decades, Europe has been in the grip of an Islamist assault. Largely ghettoized Muslim populations have become dangerously alienated from the European mainstream. From Paris to Hamburg, Germany, radicalized imams preach the virtues of global jihad. Subway systems in London and Madrid have been bombed; hundreds of civilians have been slaughtered. Dutch filmmaker Theo van Gogh was murdered.
These atrocities were committed largely by homegrown terrorists – people who were either born or raised in European countries. They felt no loyalty to their homelands. Instead, they considered themselves part of the Muslim ummah, the international Islamic political community. Their religious identity supersedes their national one.

Historian Bernard Lewis diagnoses the fundamental cause of the region-wide explosion of protest, and dismisses Western notions of a quick fix.
Bernard Lewis, the renowned Islamic scholar, believes that at the root of the protests sweeping across our region is the Arab peoples’ widespread sense of injustice. “The sort of authoritarian, even dictatorial regimes, that rule most of the countries in the modern Islamic Middle East, are a modern creation,” he notes. “The pre-modern regimes were much more open, much more tolerant.”
But Lewis regards a dash toward Western-style elections, far from representing a solution to the region’s difficulties, as constituting “a dangerous aggravation” of the problem, and fears that radical Islamic movements would be best placed to exploit so misguided a move. A much better course, he says, would be to encourage the gradual development of local, self-governing institutions, in accordance with the Islamic tradition of “consultation.”

The Iranian Embassy sent a formal request to Canada’s national Library and Archives last week demanding they cancel the screening of a movie that criticizes Iran’s nuclear program.
And the Library agreed.
It’s a Canadian government institution, owned by the federal government and funded by taxpayers.
And they actually took instructions from a foreign tyrant.
Canada imposes trade sanctions against Iran. We are among the most vocal critics of that country’s dictatorship. A Canadian delegation, led by Foreign Affairs Minister Lawrence Cannon, even walked out of the United Nations last year rather than listen to Mahmoud Ahmadinejad speak.
It’s not only a principled stand. It’s personal, too. Remember that Iranian police raped and murdered a Canadian citizen, Zahra Kazemi, as political punishment.
Cancelled screening thrusts film’s ‘important lessons’ into spotlight

Hey Iran, you’re not going to be happy with me. I’ve just watched the film Iranium, the one your embassy requested Library and Archives Canada not screen last week.
The story of the screening’s withdrawal has been widely discussed after Ottawa organizer Fred Litwin was told it was cancelled due to protest threats and complaints from the Iranian embassy.
“This is a real innocuous movie,” Litwin states.
And he’s right.
It begins with a history of the 1979 Islamic Revolution, that saw Iran become a theocratic dictatorship encouraging schoolchildren to chant “Death to Israel” and “Death to America” while also seeing its leader insist that Islam “will conquer all the mountains of the world.”

There are certainly bigots in the world. By no reasonable definition is Juan Williams, whose journalistic career has been capped with several books on civil rights, one of them. But last week, Williams spoke honestly about having had a thought that has occurred to many people. He confessed on national TV to his unease, in an age of terrorism, about boarding planes alongside groups of people in “Muslim garb.” NPR’s decision to fire Williams for that statement is either an astonishing lapse in judgment or a disgraceful act of intolerance.
If they cannot defund NPR, you can bet they will not reverse Obamacare.
The least significant aspect of NPR’s canning of Juan Williams is . . . Juan Williams. The important thing is what the world should start looking like after November 2.
Let’s say you were a million dollars in debt and you didn’t have a clue, much less a plan, about how you were going to pay. But you saw this really nice chandelier and decided it would be just perfect in your dining room. If you pulled out the Mastercard and charged up a few grand for this ornate luxury, we would not call that fine living. We would call it grossly irresponsible, especially if it means you can’t pay the mortgage or the kids’ tuition once the binge ends and the piper demands his due.

Juan Williams makes the understandable post-9/11 observation that the sight of Muslims on airplanes makes him nervous, and NPR immediately fires him. Bill O’Reilly states the obvious truth that Muslims attacked the United States on 9/11, and Whoopi Goldberg and Joy Behar walk off the set. These incidents and others demonstrate that the Leftists in the mainstream media and their Islamic supremacist allies are wholly intellectually bereft—and so they cannot engage their opponents on the level of ideas, but must instead bludgeon them into silence.

Mr. Williams simply reflected the common experience of many Americans after 9/11 to tense up when someone in Islamic dress or otherwise identifiable as a Muslim boards an airplane — and then quickly explained why such an emotional reaction should not lead to prejudicial stereotyping.

Derakhshan is the third Canadian journalist to be arrested in Iran in recent years. In July 2003, Canadian-Iranian photojournalist Zahra Kazemi died in prison, and Newsweek correspondent Maziar Bahari was briefly detained earlier this year.

Note: Det er velkendt, at de iranske myndigheder flipper ud, hvis iranere har noget at gøre med israel. Ved OL i 2004 nægtede en bryder at kæmpe imod en israeler. Berlingske Tidende skrev den 8. oktober 2007 om en sag fra Tyskland:

Den iranske spiller så sig nødsaget til at blive hjemme:
Over for en tredje avis, BZ, bedyrer Dejagah, at han “intet har imod Israel. Men jeg frygter, at jeg senere får problemer ved indrejse til Iran.
Et klart mønster tegner sig. Konservative medier får etiketten ‘højreorienteret’, hvorimod venstreorienterede får ‘uafhængig’, ‘velanset’ eller ‘troværdig’.
