Finland’s War on Free Speech
by Soeren Kern – June 11, 2012
“Stating of facts cannot and must not be criminal, even if they offend someone.” — Jussi Kristian Halla-aho, Finnish blogger convicted of defaming Islam.
Finland’s Supreme Court has found a prominent politician guilty of defaming Islam for “Islamophobic” comments he made on his personal blog.
The ruling represents a major setback for free speech in a Europe that is becoming increasingly stifled by politically correct restrictions on free speech, particularly on issues related to Islam and Muslim immigration.
The Helsinki-based Supreme Court ruled on June 8 that Finns Party MP Jussi Kristian Halla-aho was guilty of “inciting hatred against an ethnic group” for blog posts he made in 2008 which compared Islam to paedophilia, and for sarcastic comments which insinuated that immigrants from Somalia are predisposed to stealing and living off welfare.
Mere HER hos Gatestone Institute.
Iran arrests journalists, to execute bloggers
by Joel Gehrke – January 26, 2012
Iranian courts have sentenced two bloggers to death for “spreading corruption,” and government security forces have arrested four other journalists, in the lead-up to the nation’s March elections.
“In the past two weeks, security forces have reportedly arrested four journalists,” the U.S. State Department said in a statement, “including Shahram Manouchehri, Sahamedin Bourghani, Parastoo Dokouhaki, and Marzieh Rasouli, and Iranian courts confirmed death sentences for bloggers Saeed Malekpour and Vahid Asghari, both of whom were not accorded due process and now face imminent execution on charges of ‘spreading corruption.’”

Who will protect the freedom to blog?
by Michelle Malkin | June 11, 2012
Free speech is under fire. Online thugs are targeting bloggers (mostly conservative, but not all) who have dared to expose a convicted bomber and perjuring, vexatious litigant who is now enjoying a comfy life as a liberally subsidized social justice operative. Where do your elected representatives stand on this threat to our founding principles?
On Wednesday, U.S. Sen. Saxby Chambliss (R-Ga.) bravely stepped forward to press this vital issue. In a letter to Attorney General Eric Holder, Chambliss decried the “harassing and frightening actions” of Internet menaces who recently have gone after several conservative new media citizen journalists and activists.

Going dark to urge congressional action: Who will protect the freedom to blog?
By Michelle Malkin • June 8, 2012
My syndicated column today covers the crucial battle between truth-telling bloggers versus convicted bomber Brett Kimberlin and his band of malicious online thugs. In honor of the National Day of Blogger Silence called by Ace of Spades, this blog is going dark. (UPDATE: See Ace’s manifesto today here. Read Mandy Nagy’s here.) But far from shutting up, I’ll be spending the day calling, e-mailing, and tweeting members of Congress, GOP leaders, journalists, and influencers to ask them what they are doing to defend the First Amendment rights of bloggers. This is a day of action, not inaction. Below my column, I’ll list some contact info for elected officials who need to hear from you. Please join us and act for free speech. Thank you.
Convicted terrorist bomber and perjurer Brett Kimberlin is free while one of his many harassment victims remains under a judicial gag order for the crime of writing about Kimberlin’s violent criminal history. It’s a bizarre situation, as I reported on “The Source” TV show with Ezra Levant.
Kimberlin and his cadre of cyber-stalkers try to bully conservative bloggers into silence. They post personal information and home addresses of their targets to send the message that “we know where you live.”

This dude’s name has been popping up on a lot of blogs lately.
CNN discusses the Brett Kimberlin swatting cases with Erick Erickson
After Brett Kimberlin was criticized by conservative bloggers, they were targeted with swatting. Swatting is an attempt to trick an emergency service (such as a 9-1-1 dispatcher) into dispatching an emergency response team, usually by spoofing phone numbers over a VOIP system. The name is derived from SWAT (Special Weapons and Tactics), one type of such team. Such action places law enforcement and citizens at risk and are criminal actions. In addition it reduces law enforcement officer (LEO) coverage and costs taxpayer money.

Although critics of the Helsinki mega-mosque have warned that the building will be used by the Iranian regime to recruit impressionable youths to Hezbollah, Finnish politicians have embraced the Shia mosque as a symbol of multicultural progress.
A new mega-mosque has been inaugurated in the Finnish capital, Helsinki. Unlike most mosques in Europe, which cater to Sunni Muslims, the mosque in Helsinki ministers to Shia Islam.
The Helsinki mosque has been paid for by the Islamic Republic of Iran; critics say that theocrats in Tehran intend to use the mosque to establish a recruiting center for the militant Shia Muslim group Hezbollah in Europe.
Lauren Lyster interviewer:
Nigel Farage on the “EU Titanic” and the “Rebirth of National Socialism in Europe”
Welcome to Capital Account. It’s Europe Day! And what a day it is, at a time when the political parties seeing gains in multiple countries are those who want less Europe, not more. In fact, some of them, like Golden Dawn want a rejection of all of Europe. We speak with Euroskeptic member of European parliament and leader of the United Kingdom Independence Party, Nigel Farage about his recent speech in Brussels, his non-wine tasting event and his prospects for the European Union’s future.
Nigel Farage has talked often about the lack of democracy, the rise of technocracy, and predicted a country like Greece was headed towards some kind of revolution. We also speak to him about his party’s recent results in local elections in the United Kingdom, where UKIP had its best showing ever. For years, since the early 1990s when Farage was a founding member of the UK Independence party, Farage has been a Euroskeptic, pushing for the UK to pull out of the EU. For years he was a lone voice in European Parliament calling the Eurozone project a disaster.
And sticking to Europe, is Greece the poster child for what happens when the price mechanism of democracy, which has been suppressed by technocracy finally unleashes itself? Will technocrats, eurocrats, central bankers and big money succeed in manipulating it? Are we seeing the rise of national socialism in Europe and has the the EU titanic really hit the iceberg, as Nigel Farage put it during his latest speech to european parliament. Will this force a stop to the madness of integration as he sees it, or will the continent of Europe sink deeper into the sea of discontent and social unrest?
Lauren asks Mr. Farage if he thinks this is an important turning point for a country like Greece and for the EU, or if he thinks eurocrats in brussels will find some way, working alongside their viceroys in deficit countries, to keep Greece under their thumb?

Nigel Farage – There Will Be an Attempt to Install a Dictatorship
May 8, 2012
With escalating fears regarding the stability of the eurozone, today King World News interviewed former LBMA commodities broker and trader and current MEP Nigel Farage to get his take on the situation. Farage told KWN he believes there will be an attempt, within months, to install a dictatorship in Europe. Here is what Farage had to say about the deteriorating situation:

Debate: Statement by the President of the European Parliament, Martin Schulz MEP, on the occasion of Europe Day
A Belgian journalist who interviewed me recently about the European debt crisis asked me whether I believed in the European Project. I replied that I would answer her question—if she would tell me what the European Project actually was. By revealing my doubts, I proved to her that I suffered from the strange kind of mental debility known as Euroskepticism, a condition supposedly compounded of low intelligence and aggressive xenophobia. The low intelligence manifests itself in the patient’s view of European institutions as a gravy train for a transnational nomenklatura, rather than as the beginning of a new, generous, and free-spirited type of postnational identity. The xenophobia manifests itself as a secret desire for conflict and war, the European Union and its predecessors supposedly having been responsible for the avoidance of war on the Continent over the last 65 years.
Last Friday’s downgrading of France and Austria by credit rating agency Standard & Poor’s has left the eurozone, the group of 17 European countries using the euro as their currency, with just four countries with a triple A rating. Of these four Germany is the only one that was not given a negative outlook. Indeed, S&P thinks that the Netherlands, Finland and Luxemburg risk a further downgrade this year or next year.
S&P’s latest downgrades may split the longstanding “Merkozy” alliance.
17 January 2012 – Nicole Gelinas
Who will suffer most from Standard and Poor’s European sovereign-debt downgrades of January 13? Not France, though it lost its triple-A rating. Not Italy, whose rating dropped to BBB+, out of respectable A status. Rather, it will be Germany. The continent’s powerhouse guarded its sterling rating, but Chancellor Angela Merkel will find it lonely at the top.
Silenced: How Apostasy and Blasphemy Codes are Choking Freedom Worldwide
The 1989 fatwa against Salman Rushdie awakened many westerners to the danger of being charged with blasphemy in the Muslim world. Charges of “blasphemy,” “apostasy,” and “insulting Islam” are increasingly used by authoritarian governments and extremist forces within key Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) member states to acquire and consolidate power. These codes have proved effective in intimidating not only converts and heterodox groups, but also political and religious reformers.
In their newly released book, Silenced (Oxford University Press, 2011), Paul Marshall and Nina Shea provide the first survey of such accusations in the contemporary Muslim world, in international organizations, and in the West. These charges traditionally carry a punishment of death but are contested within Islam today, as described by the late Indonesian president Abdurrahman Wahid in the foreword to Silenced. Nevertheless, as Marshall and Shea describe, hundreds of victims, including political dissidents, religious reformers, journalists, writers, artists, movie makers, and religious minorities in many countries. They also document the political effects in Muslim societies of blasphemy and apostasy laws, as well as non-governmental fatwas and vigilante violence. And they examine in the West the move toward importing new blasphemy standards through bans on purported hate speech and Islamophobia, aggressively promoted by the OIC, and the increasing threat of violence to stifle commentary on Islam even in the absence of law.

Allerede 2009 lukkede Jyllands-Posten sit trykkeri i Viby. Hele 107 trykkere mistede deres arbejde. Skifter navn. Nedlægges. Rives ned. Medarbejderne spredes for alle vinde.
The Paris offices of the satirical French magazine Charlie Hebdo were destroyed in an arson attack after it “invited” the Islamic Prophet Mohammed to be its “guest editor.”
The November 2 firebombing attack took place just hours before the magazine’s current issue — titled “Sharia Hebdo” (a reference to Islamic law), and featuring a cartoon of Mohammed on its cover — hit the news stands.
The attack marks a serious escalation of a long-running Islamic war on free speech and expression in Europe. In recent years, Muslim immigrants and their multicultural supporters in Europe have used a combination of lawsuits, verbal and physical harassment and even murder to silence debate about the rise of Islam there.

“A ‘United States of Europe’ will mean the end of democracy in Europe” – Nigel Farage
J. Luis Martin – October 6, 2011
A self-described Libertarian, Nigel Farage is a founder member of the UK Independence Party, which was established in September 1993. He is the Member of the European Parliament for the South East region and is the leader of the parliamentary party in the EU parliament. The following is Truman Factor’s exclusive interview with the most visible Eurosceptic voice in the European Union’s political establishment.
Over the past decade, you have evolved from being the UK’s foremost eurosceptic voice in Europe to becoming the continent’s most visible anti-EU integration watchdog. What has led you to expand your political mission? Do you feel that your group’s vision is finally gaining political momentum?
I must admit, as what the UK establishment likes to call a “small” party in the UK, we certainly didn’t set out with the intention to lead a coalition of nations or be a figure-head for millions of under represented Europeans across the continent. Although, probably I am over-stating our position, our mission was to extract the UK from the corrupt and undemocratic European Union as fast as possible. Of course, that remains our goal today – but we have seen a large base of support begin to grow from across the world to our cause. We have friends and members in Canada, Australia, the USA and all over Europe. It has not been by clever design on our part, but a natural evolution of using our position in the EU “parliament” effectively and speaking what we believe to be the truth with passion and conviction.
Nigel Farage: “They are scared in Brussels, very scared”
3 October 2011 | By Nigel Farage
In a LondonlovesBusiness.com exclusive, the UKIP leader writes that the mood in Brussels is sheer terror
With every passing day the news in the Eurozone becomes more depressing. Ever bigger bailouts, riots in Greece and a helpless and somewhat lost look on German chancellor Angela Merkel’s face. But this week, the travelling circus that is the European Parliament came to Strasbourg and heard a rather different version of events.
On Wednesday morning at 9am European Commission President Jose Manuel Barroso rose to deliver his “State of the Union” address. To my mind it was more a case of the union being in a state!
While he admitted that there were a few problems, he did, he assured us, have the answer. The solution was to be more “Europe”, using what is called the community method whereby the unelected commission runs everything.

It’s a long way from Arizona to Oslo to Tel Aviv, but all three places have been the sites of major blood libels against the right. And a reminder of what to do in these situations.
2011 has seen the launch of two major blood libels aimed at the American and European right. The Breivik shootings and the Giffords bullseye. In both cases, the left tried to politicize an unstable man’s shooting spree to silence and intimidate the political opposition. But my own experience goes back to the assassination of Prime Minister Rabin in the Kings of Israel Square in Tel Aviv. A blood libel on an epic scale. There are common lessons to be drawn from all these events.
Watching the terror attack on Norway on TV on July 22, I immediately thought—as did most journalists watching—that Norway had finally fallen victim to the long anticipated Islamist attack. Islamists have threatened Norway, Denmark, and Sweden that they will get righteous punishment for a culture that “insults” Islam.
Learning that the killer was Norwegian, I wondered if he were a Muslim convert. Scandinavian countries go out of their way to avoid identifying criminals as “Muslim” or “Muslim convert.” They regularly report rapists and other criminals by their nationality, even leaving out ethnic names, hoping to protect innocent Muslims from violence.

“Christian Terrorism”?
by Raymond Ibrahim – August 3, 2011
In light of the Norway terrorist attack, and as expected, the hail of religious relativism has begun—the idea that, if a “Christian,” such as Breivik, commits terrorism, then it is folly to assert that certain Muslim doctrines inspire violence and terror: all becomes relative. A recent AP report titled “‘Christian terrorist’? Norway case strikes debate,” makes this clear:
As westerners wrestle with such characterizations of the Oslo mass murder suspect, the question arises: Nearly a decade after 9/11 created a widespread suspicion of Muslims based on the actions of a fanatical few, is this what it’s like to walk a mile in the shoes of stereotype? “Absolutely,” said Mark Kelly Tyler, pastor of Mother Bethel African Methodist Episcopal Church in Philadelphia. “It clearly puts us in a position where we can’t simply say that extreme and violent behavior associated with a religious belief is somehow restricted to Muslim extremists.” “It speaks to cultural assumptions, how we are able to understand something when it (comes from) us,” Tyler said. “When one of us does something terrible, we know that’s not how we all think, yet we can’t see that with other people.” Psychologists say stereotypes come from a deeply human impulse to categorize other people, usually into groups of “us” and “them.”

Breivik’s Call to Arms
Ian Buruma – August 4, 2011
Let us assume, for the sake of argument, that Geert Wilders, the Dutch politician who is convinced that Europe is “in the final stages of Islamization,” is right: Anders Breivik, the Norwegian mass murderer, is mad. Wilders tweeted: “That a psychopath has abused the battle against Islamization is disgusting and a slap in the face of the worldwide anti-Islam movement.”
Right-wing gunmen are a rarity in postwar Europe. There have, of course, been instances of right-wing violence. In the 1990s, gangs composed mostly of former East German youths, prey to neo-Nazi fantasies, set upon Turks and other clearly identifiable immigrants, beating people up in the streets and torching refugee shelters.
Soccer hooligans, too, from a number of countries—especially Germany, Britain and Russia—like to scream racist or nationalist slogans while brawling in stadiums or smashing city centers. There is even evidence of some organizational links between political fringe groups, such as the English Defence League, and gangs of soccer hooligans.
Et klart mønster tegner sig. Konservative medier får etiketten ‘højreorienteret’, hvorimod venstreorienterede får ‘uafhængig’, ‘velanset’ eller ‘troværdig’.
