Understanding the 3rd terror war

By Caroline B. Glick – March 25, 2011

Logo TownhallWhat the Palestinian silence on who committed what atrocity tells us is that in this new terror war, Palestinians believe they can’t lose.

What are we to make of the fact that no one has taken credit for Wednesday’s bombing in Jerusalem?

Wednesday’s bombing was not a stand-alone event. It was part and parcel of the new Palestinian terror war that is just coming into view. As Israel considers how to contend with the emerging onslaught, it is important to notice how it differs from its predecessors.

America’s Descent into Strategic Dementia

by Caroline Glick – March 22, 2011

The US’s new war against Libyan dictator Muammar Gaddafi is the latest sign of its steady regional decline. In media interviews over the weekend, US military chief Adm. Michael Mullen was hard-pressed to explain either the goal of the military strikes in Libya or their strategic rationale.

Mullen’s difficulty explaining the purpose of this new war was indicative of the increasing irrationality of US foreign policy.

Traditionally, states have crafted their foreign policy to expand their wealth and bolster their national security. In this context, US foreign policy in the Middle East has traditionally been directed towards advancing three goals: Guaranteeing the free flow of inexpensive petroleum products from the Middle East to global market; strengthening regimes and governments that are in a position to advance this core US goal at the expense of US enemies; and fighting against regional forces like the pan-Arabists and the jihadists that advance a political program inherently hostile to US power.

Bernard-Henri Lévys rolle i aktionen i Libyen?

Det lyder interessant:

Did Bernard-Henri Lévy Take NATO to War?

By Richard Brody – March 25, 2011

Paris is France’s New York, its Hollywood, and its Washington, D.C.—the country’s political, artistic, financial, and cinematic capital. As a result, in France these domains are intertwined with an unusual, and often surprising, intimacy. In particular, the politicization of intellectuals—and the converse, the intellectualization of politics—has been a key feature of French life at least since the eighteenth century. In the runup to France’s military engagement against Qaddafi’s regime in Libya, that trend seems to have taken a strange practical twist: the French writer Bernard-Henri Lévy—who began his career, in the seventies, as a political philosopher and has been an extraordinarily prominent media figure—played a vigorous role in rallying the French government, and perhaps even our own, to the cause of military intervention on behalf of the Libyan uprising.

My attention was piqued by his surprising presence in a March 10th article in Le Monde, about France’s breaking of diplomatic relations with Qaddafi’s government and recognition of the National Transition Council as Libya’s legitimate government. The announcement was made in Paris after the French President, Nicolas Sarkozy, met with three representatives of the Council. The article adds:

Video: Alan Dershowitz i Norge

Harvard Professor Alan Dershowitz interviewed by MIFF (Norwegian pro-Israel organization)

Harvard-professor refser NTNU for ensidighet

Islamisk tilbagetog i FN

Mere HER i Jyllands-Posten. Her myrdes shiaer fortsat.

Fremskridt i FN

[...]
