The story of how tens of thousands of Muslims volunteered to fight for Hitler.

It was after Germany’s invasion of Yugoslavia and the Soviet Union in 1941 that Hitler’s attention was first drawn to the potential for Muslim recruits to swell his ranks. For the many thousands of captured Soviet Muslims, the opportunity to serve in the Wehrmacht offered an escape from the brutality and starvation of the prison camps.

Elsewhere, a major recruitment drive amongst Bosnian Muslims led to tens of thousands signing up for the Waffen-SS. Formed into exclusive Muslim units, these men fought in some of the most brutal campaigns of the entire war.

This programme investigates why Hitler and Himmler apparently cast aside their Nazi ideal of an Aryan master race, justifying the admission of Islam into their ranks. It asks what attracted these men to fight for the Third Reich, how they were treated by their German officers and how they conducted themselves in the bedlam of war. Were they hopeless soldiers who committed unspeakable atrocities; or did they fight bravely for the Fuhrer?

We examine the fate of these Muslims at the end of the war. With Hitler dead and the Third Reich defeated there was nothing to protect them, and most were killed as traitors.

Gennem det sidste årti har folkestyret passeret en dødsensfarlig tærskel, som blev overskredet, da vælgerne uden for arbejdsmarkedet blev flere end vælgerne i arbejde. De, der ikke arbejder, kan nu stemme sig til de penge, der tilhører dem, der arbejder, som er i mindretal. Demokrati betyder folkestyre – ikke flertalstyranni. Og hensyntagen til mindretallets interesser er netop kernen i demokratiet som begreb. Det har aldrig været meningen med det moderne folkestyre, at de, der skaber værdierne og som udgør hele fundamentet under det danske samfunds økonomiske vækst og velstand, nu skal have demokratisk mindretalsbeskyttelse.

Den ærkekonservative præst Dr. Terry Jones fra Gainesville i Florida, USA har arrangeret “International Burn a Quran Day” – en dag, hvor folk verden over opfordres til at brænde koranen.

Det skriver TV2. “Everybody Burn Quran Day”, hedder en af mange Facebook-grupper, som støtter forslaget. Islam er  djævlens værk, siger præsten som begrundelse for initiativet. Og det har han da helt ret i.

Også på YouTube er der støtte at hente. Det har der været i mange år, faktisk. Eksempel på brændende koran:

The controversy on multiculturalism has changed the political fronts. The Left defends respect for minority cultures while the Right stands guard over the national culture. But these two fronts merely constitute two variants of a culturalist ideology.

Jeg kan ikke se de ligheder mellem højre og venstre, de to herrer snakker om. Hvad har forfatterne måske til fælles med Dansk Folkeparti? Enten arbejder man på at være et folk eller også arbejder man på at opløse folket via assimilationsfjendtlig indvandring.

Og det på trods af massiv modstand fra den danske befolkning, – en modstand, der har stået på i snart et halvt århundrede, hvilket talløse meningsmålinger siden starten af 60′erne har dokumenteret.

Demokratisk set burde de fremmede kulturer slet ikke være her. Dét er det, der er elefanten i lokalet. Og det er det, der er det egentlige demokratiske problem. Alt andet er kulturelt flueknepperi i den sammenhæng.

Artiklen er lang som en tale af Fidel Castro, – jojo, vi kan skam også lave associations-trick her på Veritas Universalis. Det er Eriksen og Stjernfelt ikke ene om.

Illegal indvandring i USA

Amerikanerne er langt foran os med den debat. I Danmark eksisterer diskussionen slet ikke. In the last 48 hours almost everything that can be said about illegal immigration has been said. But I am more interested in a few truths that are never quite spoken.

1) Why the Sense of Exemption? Why and how exactly do the supporters of illegal immigration justify massive disobedience of federal law? I suspect the answer is predicated in large part on the source of illegal immigration — that if it were a question of a half-million entering illegal Rwandans or Balkan peoples each year, the issue would have remained strictly a matter of legality.

I posed a hypothetical once to a Mexican consular official in a public debate, framing the request by inquiring whether he thought there would be anything wrong, say, with freighters coming ashore on the California coast, and unloading 1-2,000 Chinese nationals on average each day — few of whom would be legal, English-speaking, or with high-school diplomas.

One year ago, Shane Michael Bauer/Bower, Joshua Fattal (whose father is of Iraqi descent), and Sarah Emily Shourd, three young American hikers, were arrested by Iranian forces for having wandered too close to the Iranian border. Charged with “espionage,” they remain in the dreadful Evin Prison. Today, Amnesty International has finally demanded their release. Malcolm Smart, Amnesty’s International Middle East and North Africa Program director says:

“It appears clear that the Iranian authorities do not have substantial grounds to prosecute these three individuals, and we fear that they may be held on account of their nationality.”

Has Mr. Smart–have people–forgotten that in 1979, Khomeini’s young Iranian thugs (Ahmadinejad was probably among them) arrested and detained 52 American diplomats and Embassy personnel and held them hostage for 444 days? And that President Carter did not rescue them nor did he seem to understand that this was the outbreak of the Third Wave of Islamic Jihad against the West?

Looming threat from illegals: terror

Arizonans will be grateful for some extra help from the National Guard, starting Sunday, in protecting the border and fighting drug violence — especially now that a federal judge has blocked key parts of their recent illegal-immigration law. But there’s a more pressing border issue that goes beyond Arizona: the alliance between drug cartels and groups that aim to smuggle terrorists into our country through the Mexican border.

Last week’s detonation along the Texas-Mexico border of an Improvised Explosive Device similar to those used in Iraq and Afghanistan strongly suggests that Hezbollah is working with the drug cartels — and that America is unsafe. Law-enforcement officials and intelligence analysts believe that terrorist groups like al Qaeda have been working with such gangs as the ruthless MS-13 to smuggle terrorists into America.

Among the peoples of Europe, when granted the rare chance to go to the ballot box — increasingly window-dressing as far as the EU’s soft totalitarians are concerned — there is little argument. In fact, there is bona fide consensus: NO to Turkey becoming a part of Europe. Why? Because, culturally and historically, it is not.

Tell that to British Prime Minister David Cameron, who just visited Ankara to present himself as Europe’s leading booster for Turkish EU membership (a move the United States has meddlesomely supported), pandering so low a prayer rug could give him cover.

It’s springtime for Jew-haters. This week Oscar winning conspiracy theorist Oliver Stone joined Helen Thomas and Mel Gibson in the swelling ranks of out-of-the-closet celebrity Jew-haters. In an interview with The Sunday Times, Stone said that Adolf Hitler had been given a bum rap and that through “Jewish domination of the media,” the Jews have inflated the importance of the Holocaust and wrecked US foreign policy.

In the wake of criticism in Jewish circles, on Wednesday Stone’s publicist issued a mealymouthed clarification.

Stone failed to retract or amend his statement that “There’s a major lobby in the United States.

They are hard workers. They stay on top of every comment, the most powerful lobby in Washington.

Israel has f—ed up United States foreign policy for years.”

In a much discussed article in the current issue of The American Spectator titled “America’s Ruling Class,” Prof. Angelo Codevilla describes the divide between those who run the U.S. – the politicians, bureaucrats and policy establishment – and the rest of the country.

He laments, “Never has there been so little diversity within America’s upper crust.”

In his view, the American ruling class “was formed by an educational system that exposed them to the same ideas and gave them remarkably uniform guidance, as well as tastes and habits. These amount to a social canon of judgments about good and evil, complete with secular sacred history, sins (against minorities and the environment), and saints. Using the right words and avoiding the wrong ones when referring to such matters – speaking the ‘in’ language – serves as a badge of identity.”

The first battlefront: immigration. On Wednesday, Senate Democrats rejected a GOP amendment banning the use of federal funds to participate in any litigation against the new Arizona immigration enforcement law.

“Our federal government should be doing its job to secure our borders rather than trying to bully and intimidate the people of Arizona,” argued Republican amendment sponsor Sen. Jim DeMint of South Carolina. “We should not be suing and really hassling the people of Arizona for doing what we should be doing here, and that’s protecting the citizenry.”

Like any 12-year-old, Jamelia was excited at the prospect of a plane journey and a long summer holiday in the sun. An avid reader, she had filled her suitcases with books and was reading Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban when her mother came for her. “She said, ‘You know it’s going to be today?’ I didn’t know exactly what it would entail but I knew something was going to be cut. I was made to believe it was genuinely part of our religion.”

She went on: “I came to the living room and there were loads of women. I later found out it was to hold me down, they bring lots of women to hold the girl down. I thought I was going to be brave so I didn’t really need that. I just lay down and I remember looking at the ceiling and staring at the fan.

“I don’t remember screaming, I remember the ridiculous amount of pain, I remember the blood everywhere, one of the maids, I actually saw her pick up the bit of flesh that they cut away ’cause she was mopping up the blood. There was blood everywhere.”

Theodore Dalrymple om fængselsstraf

Den engelske regering har besluttet, at færre kriminelle skal fængsles. Derfor har Theodore Dalrymple skrevet flere artikler om emnet på det seneste. Her er en af dem:

When Mr Clarke went recently to Leeds Prison, prior to announcing in a speech that prison wasn’t working and that therefore fewer people ought to be locked up, he was reported to have been much affected by the story of a man he met there who had been imprisoned for six weeks for having failed to pay child support. The man told him that the brief sentence had ruined his life, that he had lost his job because of it and that when he came out of prison he would have to go on the dole.

Whether Mr Clarke asked himself some rather obvious questions about the case is unknown. How many times had the man refused to pay the support before he was imprisoned? How typical of the prison population was he? Is refusal to pay the upkeep of one’s children really a minor matter? (John Stuart Mill, in an infrequently cited passage in On Liberty, thought that such a man could rightly be put to forced labour, a proposal that would turn modern England into a vast gulag if implemented.) Of course it is possible that an injustice had been done this man, because injustices are sometimes done: but there was nothing in the report of the encounter to allow anyone, and certainly not Mr Clarke, to draw such a conclusion.
