A Dutch Retreat on Speech?

And now we come to what may be a truly fundamental test, maybe even a turning point, for that part of the world generally known as the West.
The test is this: Are prominent, articulate critics of radical Islam, critics who happen to be citizens of European countries or the United States, entitled to the same free speech rights enjoyed by other citizens of European countries and the United States?
Legally, of course they are. In practice, they can say what they want — and then they can be murdered for doing so. That means that Western governments have a special and unusual responsibility to them, as many have long acknowledged. It is no accident that the writer Salman Rushdie, upon whom the Ayatollah Khomeini declared a fatwa on Feb. 14, 1989, is still very much alive. Though the details have not been publicized, it is assumed that Rushdie remains, one way or another, under the protection of the British police and secret services, both in Britain and abroad. This protection is completely uncontroversial — in June, the queen even gave Rushdie a knighthood– and as a result the fatwa has not prevented him from speaking, writing, publishing, even divorcing and remarrying several times over the past 18 years.
The case of Ayaan Hirsi Ali, the Dutch-Somali politician and writer, is different. Hirsi Ali has been under Dutch police protection since 2002, when her public comments about mistreatment of women in the Dutch Muslim community and references to herself as “secular” led to death threats in Holland.

Hirsi Ali is a Spoiled BRAT who is milking DUTCH Government and any Idiot who is willing to Fall for her CRAP. This is not having Free Speech, this is not taking Responsibility for what they Spill out .. She knew too well what would happen when she did what she did.
Why do you not write articles about how those who we bring to our societies, those Moslems, Iranians, KURDS, Iraqis and as such, we bring to our societies, those even like HIRSI ALI herself, are the ones who then go out there and Kill others freedom of Expression and freedom to BE so that they could SHINE with their CRAP.
They go out there and Destroy others future so that a Woman with Complex due to Her Genital Slightly Mutiliated, while making too much fuss over nothing, would have her Pleasure and SEX and Porn .
What You are telling us Anne is that both Washington Post and AEI and American Public as well as European have been lowered their standards to the extent that the like of Hirsi Ali could run the SHOW and none would even notice how low their Standards are .
No Intelligent Woman or man would fall for her crap as her own Countrymen and women did not . The Dutch have no Obligation to Cover and Protect her .. The Dutch Government has already done Enough according to their own Obligation towards their own MPs. Hirsi Ali has been a Private Citizen and She is Old and Big Enough to Make her own Choices and she should Grow up and learn how to watch her big Mouth.
While Hirsi Ali and some other LESBIANS beat up Islam and Prophets, others are fattening up Moslems in WDC and in US and show them even how to take over and how to spread HEJAB and how to even grab your own attention and that of your own PAPER.
Somehow , this time round, Anne Applebaum, you are not the woman with Balanced View. Making a Big Deal of a load of Crap and even build the person who spill them out to this level shows how much US MEDIA is fooling its own Audience and people and has Zero Respect for others Intelligence or their own Country ’s Spirit and Constitution .
Others rights are being suffocated in Broad Day light and their Freedom Speech is taken away so that the like of Hirsi ALI stand out there and live off Grants and live off Donation. The Woman is a Crook and there is no other word to Describe it. Sadly there is no Dignity in anything she writes or says.
If you want Anne Applebaum to read this you should write The Post.
